SSDs for a Boot-Drive, because it is about 10x faster in comparison to an HDD.
Your Boot-time will be enormously fast and game loading-times will be quicker too.
But on the other hand, an SSD for the sole purpose of storing data is too expensive, as you don't need this performance to view your pictures. Here shines the HDD, because you get really high storage density for much less money, as the performance is sufficient for storing pictures, music, video, ...

the newer ssd are the replacements for mec drives now. the wear issue for ssd is there but for a home pc now you have to run it for 10 years before the ssd would wear out. the ssd has no moving parts so there less chance of data loss with a good brand off ssd. your still going to pay a lot for any ssd over 256g. so your better off using two drive set up. a ssd boot drive and a one tb data drive.
