So i bought a brand new Solid State Drive. It came and wasn't getting detected so i had it replaced. New one gets detected just fine, BUT, it will not format. This is problematic as i can't actually use it.

My system specifications are;
Motherboard: Gigabyte g970ads3
Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1055t
Graphics card: Asus Geforce GT 640
Harddrive: 1tb (not sure on brand)
Case: Be quiet silent base 800

So are there any compatibilities or is it a driver related issue?
i've tried numerous sata data and power cables aswell as the different ports. the motherboard is set to run in ACHI mode, so i don't know. I heard that drives usually come pre-formatted but i suppose this isn't the case for all drives.

THanks,
~Sam.

To format the disk, i have tried the formatting UI that is given when trying to open an unformatted drive in ''my computer''. I have also tried the command prompt route, as well as the route through ''computer management''. i also tried to use an install disc, none of which have worked. I've given the SSD to a friend to see if he can format it just to rule out the possibility of it being the SSD itself. i very much feel its something with my computer but i don't know what.
