If Blizzard hadn't been promising Starcraft II for a couple years now, I'd have more faith in the announcement. I distinctly remember reading that Blizzard & the devs were more than ready to start the beta last year, but it's been the improvement to Battle.Net and it's DRM that's been holding-up the process greatly.

With Command and Conquer 4 and Supreme Commander 2 both due out in a couple more months, I very well may skip-over SC2 initially and wait for all 3 episodes to come out....

... although with how long it's taking, Half-Life Episode 3 will probably be out first.

First, they will release yet another WoW expansion. Or two.

I hear ya. My gut tells me Starcraft 2 will be pushed back to 2011. Blizzard is focused on the next WoW expansion, they don't care about SC2 or Diablo 3. This is complete bullcrap!

well I work at best buy, and we are scheduled to get the full game "3/1/2010" we will sell it about a week after that. We already have pre-orders for sale. I think it will be sooner, they were handing out keys like mid last year i thought? I signed up for one, but was sent an email informing me that i didnt qualify.

Troll much? And you're right, if it wasn't Starcraft, no one would care. But since it is Starcraft, and since it is made by Blizzard, fans know that it is going to be top notch. The only other RTS game I've played that has anything even close to the highly efficient interface as Warcraft 3 is Company of Heroes. Starcraft 2's interface, AI, pathfinding and unit balancing will no doubt blow away any RTS game that has been released to date. And that's not the kind of thing you can get a feel for by watching battle reports. So keep your trolling to a minimum until you actually get your hands on the product.

Nonsense. If there's not even a beta version out on Feb 1, then there sure as hell won't be a full game on sale at BestBuy in a month. Use your head. Even after the game goes gold, there's still months of waiting to be done. There will be anywhere from 3 to 6 months more waiting after the beta is released. That's just how Blizzard works. I'm thinking September-November for the full game.

Oh, so you're the guy who's been keeping the C&C series alive. I've been meaning to talk to you. STOP! Those games are terrible, and they're just getting worse and worse. No significant interface enhancements. Just more and more ridiculous, unusable units.

I do have to try Supreme Commander though. I've heard good things.
