I currently have 3 computers with windows 10 installed (2 laptops and 1 desktop) and I have a contract for Gigabit internet (1000down/200up mbit). On the two laptops, using a LAN connection, speed is just fine at around 850/900 mbit. On the other hand, my desktop pc build only gets to 100/150 mbit (also connected via LAN) for speedtests and when downloading games from launchers like Steam or Wargaming (Epic Games Launcher reaches 800mbit and has no problems at all for some reason).
Almost all downloads from my internet browsers are capped at 20 mbit (except for Google Drive, with 400mbit, reason unknown).

I have checked if the problem was related to bad wiring, by running tests with my laptops connected to the same LAN cable of my desktop, and speeds remained high.

Most importantly I've installed Linux Mint on a usb flash drive to do a test using another OS, and I reached speeds of 900/950 mbit.
So the problem is only related to this particular install of windows 10.
I've checked and updated drivers for my motherboard's network interface but nothing changed.
I also checked that internet speed wasn't capped by any external program of any kind, and I couldn't find any potential problems.

I have installed the speedtest.net app for windows, and over the last months I've been getting the (almost perfectly) identical speeds of 41down/56up
On different browsers, results range from 70 to 170 download and a consistent 64mbit upload

At this point I don't know what else to try...

(for the tests I used Speedtest.net and I made sure to be connected to the same server)

Mobo: ASUS H81M-E, BIOS American Megatrends Inc. 0802, 03/08/2015, no more recent versions I believe
Intel Ethernet connection I217-V
Windows 10 2004
I am connected to my provider's modem via a Netgear GS205 switch, I also connected directly but the speed was the same.

We're currently on version 20H2 for Windows 10, perhaps see if you are pending an update. Also, with your motherboard, what BIOS version are you currently on? Make and model of your router? Perhaps see if that has a firmware update pending as well.

I'm having a similar issue. For a steam download, I get my full speed. Nvidia driver dl was slower than dialup and multiple speed tests shows me at about 10% of full speed or just fail to connect. Some sites are fast, some are slow, it's mixed bag.

I have just updated my pc to 20H2 but there is absolutely no difference. I have updated my post with all the other information. I also tried booting windows in safe mode and doing a speedtest, but the results were not different.
(a little side note; while I was downloading the windows update, the download appeared to be exactly at 3.3 mbit, I don't know if it can help).
