I have same issue on 2 of totaly 5 PCs in house. I really doubt that they are related but strange thing is that they have same symptoms.
One is Xp the other one is Vista. Here is the problem :
Speakers do not play any sound.

Audio is built in audio so no aditional sound card is installed...
This is what I tried so far.

In media player if I press play on the song it plays like it should only without sound. I am used to have warning that no sound card or "something something" error msg when pressed play but nothing. In CP/system/audio I tried to make standard both realtek HD audio and speakers. On both if I press test sound it shows that sound is playing but I can not hear it.
I tried to download latest driver and after windows repeatedly stated that the most recent version of the driver is in the system I even tried manually to change driver. Didnt help 🙁
I checked mute/unmute button...
If on other Pcs speakers work just fine...
I enabled legacy audio 97 ( AC 97 ) if I am correct with this name in bios but that didnt help either.
Everything on PC is like normal beside the fact that there is no sound. So what can I try now ? I am so stucked on this one. PLEASE HELP ME !
