Wargames World Forums have just been updated with a photo battle report
of a recent engagment in the Sudan between an Anglo-British Column and
the forces of the Mahdi. The game used 28mm figures from Redoubt and
Old Glory including a Paddle Steamer, Guards Camel Corp, 21st Lancers
and lots and lots of Dervishers both on foot and mounted. Check it out

Chris,

Looks like a really great game. Piquet sounds interesting. Have you
ever tried The Sword and The Flame? If so, how would you compare them?

Thanks for your comments, everyone had a great time apart from the
Lancers and the Egyptians!!

I'd highly reccomend Din of Battle to anyone looking for a realistic
and fun set of Colonial rules, we played Sword and the Flame when I was
at school about 20 years ago, from what I can remember they were a
fairly average you move, I move sort of ruleset. In my opinion Piquet
is a far better game because it does not have a defined move sequence.
Each army has a sequence deck that represents it's unique
characteristics. As you saw from the battle report, the Dervishers were
very mobile and caught the Egyptians napping, something that is
unlikely to happen in an I move, you move ruleset.
