Hi, I've built a PC myself. It will be used for 3D CAD work and, in my free time (if available), for gaming. Here it is, please be honest.P.S. It has 64GB RAM because the 32GB RAM in our school PCs (HTL) is regularly maxed out. Also, I want this PC to last for 10 years without needing any major upgrades. Monitor will come later, it's not that important.

Basic Configuration:

  • Case: ENDORFY Arx 700 Air
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 14700K 8+12x 3.40Ghz / Turbo up to 5.60Ghz / 28 Threads
  • Motherboard: MSI B760 Tomahawk WIFI
  • Graphics Card: nVidia RTX4070 SUPER 12Gb (various models)
  • RAM: ADATA XPG Lancer 64Gb DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 Kit (2x 32Gb)
  • SSD: ADATA Legend 850 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD
  • Power Supply: ADATA XPG Kyber 750W Gold ATX 3.0
  • Network: Onboard Gigabit LAN
  • Sound Card: Onboard Soundchip
Cooling:

  • CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III 36

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Z series chipset motherboard, would be a good idea to pair with your unlocked processor otherwise look for a non K SKU processor if you want that chipsetted motherboard.

will be used for 3D CAD work and, in my free time (if available), for gaming.
Please mention the apps and games you're going to tax the system with. What is your location, your preferred site for purchase and your budget?

Hi, I've built a PC myself.

If you already built it then no reason to post the question now. You already have it so enjoy.

EDIT it will serve you well till it don't nobody can set a time limit on that but 10 years is a bit unrealistic.

Sorry, but i craeted the account and immediately wrote this, I wanted to write it to become Feedback the next day.

You´re right, the Z series would be better

I want to use it for creo 10, Genshin Impact, (and when i have time for a few other games, but that isnt necessary). Im from Austria. I want to use the PC for a very long time, and dont want to upgrade it often so my budget is 2000€. And i dont really have a preferred site to purchase, just a site that build it for me and make a test run, I dont have the time and knowledge to do it.

P.S. Please dont judge my english, I nearly repated few school years because of English

Since I gave so little information in my post:

I want to use 2 monitors. I currently only have an old one and my laptop, which would be added separately. I'm also hoping for tips here.

Additionally, the build should avoid as many unnecessary things (like RGB) as possible. I only have space hanging under my desk (a tip for a mount would be cool too), so it won't be visible. Therefore, I basically only keep my keyboard, mouse, and an old HDMI cable (has there been much change?).

Everything but Windows is included in that build so you should be fine ^^
Yeah, but i also need a microphone for dc etc
A Monitor (I want 2 with around 27 zoll), they dont have to make 240Hz, im fine when they make 120 or smth like that
Than im using cable headphones so i need the normal headphone jack.
And i want to hang my Monitors, is it worth it? or are there some tiny stands that doesnt use that much space, im a bit chaotic, especially when im learning

I hope you have some tips or suggestions

Then i also have some General questions, please answer them, thx

1. How and where can I always get the best/latest drivers for my PC? I know they are available on the respective websites, but how do I know which one is the best for mine?

2. Are GPU support brackets important, or just a waste of money? As a structural engineer, I always worry about bending moments.

3. What does a sound card do? I use either Bluetooth speakers or wired headphones.

4. Why can you add an extra network module? Does it make a difference? I have very poor internet in my room (it’s at the end of the hall).

5. What does a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) do?

From and only from the manufacturer website.
You really don't need to update your hardware drivers that much.

2. Are GPU support brackets important, or just a waste of money? As a structural engineer, I always worry about bending moments.
Only if your GPU is sagging a bit

3. What does a sound card do? I use either Bluetooth speakers or wired headphones.
You don't need one. The onboard sound is fine.

4. Why can you add an extra network module? Does it make a difference? I have very poor internet in my room (it’s at the end of the hall).
You don't need one.

5. What does a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) do?
It is a short term battery backup. In the even of total house power outage, it allows you a very few minutes to shut the system down gracefully.

If your monitors are VESA then I would look into that. A lot of people use a dual monitor desktop VESA mount.
