An instance of svchost is hogging my cpu time (like 90%+, constantly). It
starts some hours after boot, then adds up to three threads into the svchost
process, each taking about 30% of cpu time. PID is 872. Properties of the
process indicate (from process explorer) the threads have start addresses of
"kernel32.dll!CreateThread+0x27" all three are the same. The state of each
thread alternates between "Ready" and "Wait:WrLpcReceive", and each has about
2M context switches, and are obviously going nowhere.
The net result of this is that the machine runs like frozen treacle.
Its Virus, Trojan and Ad free so far as I can tell.
Has anyone any idea what is causing this??
ps The text above is intended to convey the key information about my problem
in a succinct manner, not to imply that I know what I'm doing, or that I even
know what a thread is!!
Grateful for some technical help. PT
