[citation][nom]figgus[/nom]Origin makes this a non-starter for me. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on this game.[/citation]

FYI: you DO NOT need to have origin to play. I have not and will not be installing origin. you can run your account through swtor.com and the game has its own launcher.

Have been playing since first day of early release with not technical issues on my end. The queues were expected as I have been through a launch before. They are getting lower as more people go back to work.

The game is rather fun (according to myself and the people I play with). I enjoy it and will keep playing. I am hoping they do not start dumbing it down or letting people use add-ons that simplify game play, such as threat meters or mods that warn you when bosses are going to throw a skill etc. (Damage meters and some UI changes would be welcome though).

I haven't played much since my early game access of December 17th, as my Rogue (sorry, Sith Assassin) is only level 12, but not a single time did I experience queue on my heavy loaded server. Lag is little to non-existent and I haven't crashed to desktop once. I won't deny that some people may experience some problems, but it's the best launch of a MMORPG I've seen in a long time, especially for one that have been awaited for so long by Star Wars fans.

So far I enjoy the game very much. It's not the best game I ever played though. The story is good, and I understand every class has it's own, which is awesome for replay (or re-roll) value. The visuals are okay, but not more. I understand that it's for the sake of catering to a larger audience who doesn't own a pimped-out Alienware rig, but I believe they could have made the graphics more scalable to hardware. Still, it's not as cartoony as WoW. The world so far is huge, and they won't have a problem expanding it even more by simply adding planets (compared to WoW wich have a fixed-map to begin with). Gameplay is fun, but I agree with stm1185 that the comabt is not as responsive as I would like it. The visual of the actions is not obvious and you sometimes wonder if you're attack failed or missed, which in turn gives me a hard time sorting out which combo is the best one with the skills I have. I guess it's just something you have to get used to.

All in all, it's a good game that will undoubtedly become a great game over time.

[citation][nom]Chronostream[/nom]Its still a smoother launch than Anarchy Online. I remember that one was so bad that they felt they had to offer a *second* free month![/citation]

I remember those days. Seems like it took forever for them to get it fixed.

[citation][nom]EagleInGA[/nom]Twice now I have gottent to subscription page, selected monthly then BAM get failure before entering information. .... Now off to Walmart to rip into them for selling this trash!![/citation]

Get failure must be a horrible error code, and to think its all of one click beyond the home page to get to subscriptions, you must have wasted hours. I hate it when that happens to me.... I'm glad you won't be playing Star Wars, and if it makes you feel good about yourself to go yell at a minimum wage employee at your local walmart, then go for it big man.

The thing to keep in mind, is there are MILLIONS of people trying to access their web and game servers, if you don't like waiting in line to log into an online game, then play Mass Effect.

P.S IMO All of the tom's SWTOR articles to date can be summed up with one sentence. "All my WOW friends left for SWTOR, so I will write bad things about it."

I'm sure this happens with a lot of MMO's. Should clear up in a few days. I never liked Origin or EA. Always seems to have some kind of problem they need to fix. Played the game a little. Pretty much like every other MMO I've played with a Star Wars theme. The thing that stands out the most is the great voice acting and how it lets you make choices like other bioware games. Very cool.

[citation][nom]Freeseus[/nom]How is this stupidity or user error?I simply feel that I shouldn't have to sign up for a second month to be able to play for my first month. And that process is required to play for the first month.Troll.[/citation]

Stupidity/user Error... you stated you could not play even after completing the 5/5 steps. Then tell us how you did not enter subscription information which is 1 of the 5 steps...actually step 4. Being that that is one of the five steps you were not 5/5 so therefore could not play (user error not EA/Biowares fault).
Furthermore WoW follows the same example you need to set up a subscription with a new game before you can play even WoW. Either you did not remember doing this or mommy and daddy did not tell you about it. This is a standard practice and while I agree it is dumb, this is standard with all MMO's.

For someone as venomous as yourself you should get your facts straight. In WoW you aren't required to subscribe until your first months free play is used.

Maybe not of as the last year I bought a new account for my wife at Cata last year and it was required .....but ALL other MMO's require it.

You are 10000% wrong about this, I have played wow twice, once was 2 years ago the other time was 2 weeks ago, both times I was able to play for a month without entering any subscription info at all until I needed it.

This guy has a point, why should i HAVE to set it up if I am just playing the first month? I shouldnt, thats the correct answer, not "everyone else does it, its fine". Saying its an ok practice just because that others do it is by far the dumbest argument one can make, well done.

This article is full of shit, best game launch I have seen in my entire life. I do wait for 15-45 minutes every night to play, but smart people will always find ways to manage (RDC) Anyone complaining about this launch should find some real problems to worry about in their life.

[citation][nom]clonazepam[/nom]I can clearly tell you don't know what you are talking about, and never opened 'Preferences' to customize nameplates, or learned how to auto-run and control the camera with the left mouse button. You played to 14...rofl... You really didn't do anything then.Compared to what? It's a lot of fun.As far as server ques, I dont know why the derps all try to load up on a few servers. There's a ton of them with light loads when others have 2 hr ques. It makes no sense. If people are waiting to get in, its definitely their choice to wait. All the major issues, like the Taris issue have already been patched. It's Bioware's baby and there's no way they wont tend to matters very quickly.[/citation]

When you log in for early access, get to level 15 over night, log back in the next night and you're dealing with 2 hour queues, it's not very handy to just "pick a different server."

Granted level 15 is nothing in the overall scheme of things.. it's just frustrating. The content is too bland to go through it twice. This is just how I personally feel though. If you enjoy it, then good for you. I, myself, will continue my hunt for "that game" in 2012.

It has nothing to do with Derps, it is because some of the old school SWG server communities decided they wanted to all get together again like old times for PvP fun. These communities by themselves are huge and why certain servers have (had) really long Q's.

Graphics in TOR are very poor. Gameplay is slow and boring. Combat is so boring it puts me to sleep. I'm hoping Guildwars 2 or Blade N Soul do a better job. Tera was also fun to play imo, combat was very fast paced and fun, but since I don't speak korean it was hard to understand story or quests. But gameplay and graphics were top notch. Can't wait For Tera, Blade N soul, or GW2. Real MMOs. Not this fake, watered down kid-level junk.

I was locked out of the game this morning because they wanted me to activate my subscription so beware no free 30 days before giving them your credit card.

All this about queue times being 2hrs+, what they fail to mention is there are plenty of servers with no queue times & is available.
My personal queue times have not been more than 30mins despite a 500 ppl queue, which isn't too bad.

There is 30day free subscription, but you need to subscribe before you can play.

Simply put SWTOR is the best MMO out at this time of its genre and type. I dont even consider myself a star wars fan (sure i enjoyed the movies) and although i may already be addicted to SWTOR i dont consider myself a fanboy.. It does need ironing out, ofcourse, which game doesnt on release nowadays?
The subscription problems.. i had no issues, ofc i didnt wait until release day to subscribe, i put in the code and subscribed the day i got it.. I already suffered a 6 hour long battle with blizzard trying to throw my money in their face when wow was released. So far ive encountered a smoother release and less bugs than in wow on their release and SWTOR is MUCH larger than azeroth, looks much better, they have not copy pasted 80% of caves/buildings, storyline is awesome (if you dont like the vids you can skip them with spacebar, however the class quest line is well worth following).

@ Jellica, i agree this game should have no need to go f2p at this time, and hopefully never will.

APB:R (All points bulletin : reloaded) is now F2P after it was bought by gamersfirst for 2 million pounds after an investment of over 100 million $ by RTW (realtime worlds, rip) and their investors. Epic game then went F2P, idd theres no epic game built on a F2P model.

Ignore all trolls that come along and say "i got to level 10 and "insert random game bashing here". Takes approx 3 hours to get to lvl 11, Anyone claiming to be able to review any game in 3 hours gametime should not be taken seriously, when talking about an MMO it just gets worse.

@ Netherscourge - the cross realm they did in wow is quite possibly the wrose thing they could have done, the pvp xrealm might have been necessary, but not the LFG system. The amount of douchebags you came across is just ridiculous. If people are locked into one server they might actually act like civilized people, I only wish they'd force the use of the Legacy Title/surname so that if you come across a douchebag you can filter him out and his alts included. I seriously believe this would improve the quality of this in-game community and any other game community which implements anything of the sort.

Queue wise, my server has been full since like the second day of pre-release, so far ive had to wait only once, for an hour.

The are few real issues i have come across, one is the fact that Imperial population is much larger than republic, which means world pvp is not funcioning as intended and warzones other than huttball are rare. However i presume time will fix this. Another would be the operation frames (raid frames) not updating how they should which only really affects healers, healing by looking at peoples nameplates on the screen and then finding them on the list is rather tricky followed by groups you join warzones with disbanding everytime makes it rather annoying, however i seem to have been designated the "inviter" in my group of friends/guild so its always me doing it and ive gotten used to it 😛

I signed up for SWTOR and they debited my card 4 times. When I saw that, I called and they said that they ran the card multiple times as a way to verify I had enough money in my account. What BS. Now they say that I have to wait 10 business days to get a refund on the excess 3 charges. This sounds like fraud to me. They did say that multiple customers experienced this. Any ideas on what's going on?
