Top O' The Mornin' all....
Picked up the Star wars galaxy this weekend. Actually pretty cool, despite issues that are being addressed..question

Any one else here playing SWG? and if so...Its a heavy dx9 game..my system is basically new..ATI rad 9800 pro..etc..nforce2 ultra 400 chipset..xp2500 cpu, 1 Gb ddr333 in dual mode..etc..However...in this game, Im seeing only 29 fps???? Spoke with other players on line...smae deal..even those with fx 5900 - rad 9800 pro's..etc...best anyoine has seen is roughly 29 fps... the game works fine...and is fluid, even at that speed, so I was wondering if it's a server/ object/dx9 /d3d etc type thing...as in relative to data from the server etc....throughput is good..everything seems fine..and once again, depite that seeming dreadful..the game flows nicely, have even played with bells and whistles on or off..no diff..running omega drivers too

thanks for any input

I've heard that 29FPS is the most the game will allow. It may be a data issue but I'm not that knowledgable about tech stuff so someone else may have a better, in depth explanation.

By the way, I picked up the game the day after it was released (after months of telling myself I wouldn't do that) and have been playing it almost every night since. I've got a Twi'lek Musician/Fencer(not quite there but someday....) on the Ahazi server. Stop by the Coronet Cantina and I may be there playing a song.

Hey corpus...

My current toon is a FAT wookie named "sordy" on wanderhome server.

So what you hear is that it only allows 29fps?..That may be it then. thanks bro

SWG intentionally limits the frames-per-second to 29. There is nothing wrong with your machine. The explanation that I was given was that SWG is multi-treaded and they do not want the thread responsible for drawing to the screen to be stealing time away from the other thread(s). The good news is, as long as you are around 20 fps or higher, it shouldn't make much of a difference in this type of game.

I would have waited 6 months for the game to actually be complete before picking it up. SOE is famous for releasing content and making players pay for finishing it. You can be sure your subscription fees are going to pay for adding content in that should have been there from release.

Zoron...

I Know you are correct, having been a EQ player for a long time, freed from that game finally a few months back, but many of my friends are on, so, I said, screw it, I can learn how the game works while they fix it. Sadly, endorsing SOE's lamme policy, but, having fun anyways..:)

I had an account until a week ago or so.
My scout almost made Master, but I just couldn't handle all the problems with the game. The fact that the suits pressured the programers to push the game out early really sucks. Yeh I know, alot of peeps would still be bitching about it not being released, but I wouldn't be one of them. I have plenty of games keeping me busy, and I could have waited another 6 months for this game to come out and be FINISHED. The fact that they kept pushing player vehicles, mounts, cities, and at one point player owned starships, THEN dumping every single one of those before launch really sucks. What the hell is Star Wars if it's not vehicles and stuff?? Also, I really was looking forward to my Bounty hunter getting to track some actual player bounties, not some stupid npc. But they scratched that too, since they couldn't come up with a way to keep the buttheads from greifing their bounties over and over again. Also the game is severely lacking in content. I mean, who wants to jog across a desert for 45 freaking minutes just to earn a few creds on a delivery mission?Trust me, I really really wanted it to be cool from launch onward. I am 30 years old, and I've been a star wars kid since 1977. I guess call me when you can ride a landspeeder and own a starship =/

P.S. Yeh I heard they put a cap on the fps at around 29. Your machine is fine.
