I have a 1TB Caviar Green that was running Windows 7 Enterprise on an old Dell that died. I'm wondering if there is any way to access the data that is still on it with my new desktop? Any solutions would be appreciated!
Could I get some advice on the different power cables that are available on Amazon/Newegg? My current computer only has one power cable to feed the main drive, but I'll need a second one.
what does the hard drive power connecter look like?
or
the black is a sata power plug and the white is a 4 pin molex connector. I know they make all different types of splitters/adapters for the 4 pin molex cables, but I don't know whats available for the sata type connection.
The power cable for the hard drive looks like the sata power plug unfortunately. I'm kind of confused by the molex cables that are on Amazon that split into the sata power plugs... (eg. http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SY-CAB40007-Molex-Power-Inches/dp/B0027AGK3M). Could those be used ... or?
I looked around and could only find the one SATA power cable. There wasn't really anything else hanging around that I saw open in the computer case. :/
Ah, yeah that looks like something that would be useful for the two hard drives. I should have no problem with powering both through the one cable right? I have a 500W PSU
1-Molex to 2-SATA,
2-Molex to 1-SATA,
1-Molex to 1-SATA
1-SATA to 2-SATA
Anyone shed some light on power requirements for SATA drives vs. Molex connectors?
Yeah, I was wondering if the 1-SATA to 2-SATA would have any negative consequences if they were connected to the two hard drives. Like if there wouldn't be enough power or something through the one cable?
