I put a system image on to an external hard drive as a backup before installing the latest version of windows 10 onto a HP desktop.
Now when I try to load the backup using the repair option I get-
The system image restore failed.
Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has different firmware. The system image was created on a computer using BIOS and this computer is using EFI.

Is there any way of changing the system image to EFI before installation or what do I need to do so I can load my backup please ?

Are you sure you're using a backup image taken from the same machine?

It's possible that the backup is corrupted. If that's not the case, though, it doesn't matter what version of Windows 10 you've loaded on to a given piece of hardware as far as whether that hardware is old (uses true BIOS) or newer (uses UEFI). That does not change.

This message appears to be telling you that you are trying to restore from a system image that was not taken from the same computer, and that the computer it was actually taken on is significantly older than the one upon which you're trying to use it to restore.
