Does anyone know of any tablet with an HDMI INput (not output!)? Without an HDMI INput, tablets can't hook up to photo/video cameras, cell phones, laptops, gaming systems, desktops, etc. to serve as a larger, higher rez, secondary and/or touch enabled display. In other words, without an HDMI input, tablets are just gadgets that hardly put their displays to good use. Lets start pestering manufacturers, including Apple, so they give us INTELLIGENT products, instead of just copying each others stupidity in an endless cycle of 'me too' products!

i know this is old too xd
mm the answer is something more like an acer da 220 hql. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-DA220HQL-21-5-Inch-Android-Touchscreen/dp/B00CHYKVPQ
i am using one as the main monitor for my i5 rig. (usb cable connection => adds touch option)
but what we want are 7-15.6" tablets with this hdmi input option! not 21,5" +
given that it works in this smartdisplay which runs android it means that it can work in any kind of android tablet.
so anyone knows any such tablet (7" - 15,6") that came out now? O:
i mean all it takes it's the OSD option which allows (main) and (hdmi) view.
and the hdmi input thingie on the da220hql is really small.... it could even fit in my xperia z2......

There is a way if you know how to create an MPEG4 Stream that transmits on a Terrestrial TV channel bandwith.

I worked for a local TV broadcast that's how I tested this.
I used their signal transmitter then used one of those HDTV receivers for android/ipad from China. The never models can even receive HD and will switch to SD if your phone/tablet is not fast enough.

Of course it is illegal to operate a broadcast signal without a license so there is a way around that too:
Buy a HDMI to RCA adapter from ebay and then transmit the signal with a standard RF video transmitter kit. If you can't find those older analog TV tuners for mobile devices or find it too dificult to setup, there is the easiest option:
Use your PC and Splashtop to stream your HDMI input to your mobile device.
Works perfectly.
