Yup. Don't use a motherboard that's going to die

Come on Chip, get with the program. Get s939, a 3200+ and clock it up over 2.6. Then replace the bad caps on your old board. That should help re-energize flinx.

Yes flinx, sparky. apesoccer, stefan chipdeath and me are coming for you.
BTW chipdeath, sparky and I have had a few problems of our own. Looks like I'm good to go now, dont know about sparky, but you better get busy.

my goal was to get into the top 10 of our team and for our team to surpass FRM!
Seems to be my lucky day!!
I'm also thinking about increasing my output -- you see, I work in a big company, where I have direct access to at least 20 P4's, I haven't compromised yet -- not to talk about the sun-servers... - now if someone would port this FAH-Programme to Sun Solaris 8.6, I would have a few serious processors which are just idling at the moment...
-
for the record: that would all be slightly less than OK so I'm thinking about different approaches...

I'm quite positive that we'll think of something to make it to the top 100 - we need to think about rewards... - something catchier than an old PC -- to be honest: the way you got me, was the gmail-thing, so: it doesn't have to be big value but still something so cool/desirable, that people will be willing to sacrifice CPU-time for!
cheers!

Used graphics card? Like GeForce4 Ti4200, Radeon 9600 Pro? I would appreciate this kind of prize, since I'm stuck with Radeon 9000 (Non-Pro)

"Wusy" and Stefan are now HAPPY  . The infamous and much reviled team "FRM" has gone down to ignonomous decay  . Team "FRM" passed us back in December. It's taken us a long time to catch up but we did it. Everyone can pat themselves on the back; job well done! What kind of team name is FRM anyway ... LOL.

Guys im just about to say the heck with folding. I have not gotten credit on 2 completed WU's and there have been 3 or 4 that were sent in 1/2 - 3/4 of the way finished. Its been over a month on a couple of them and a week on the last one. This is really frustrating.

Come on Mozz, you are a better team player than that. We need all the help we can get. Besides, the prog is also good for telling you how stable your OC is.
Remember the greater good to.

One of the things I did when I was having issues with completing was to uncheck the box for accepting WU and return of results greater than 5MB. It is un the Connection tab when you go into configure (GUI version). It helped with my stability and WU completions!

Im still folding, its just frustrating. I have always gotten credit for partial WU's but something changed about a month ago. I know of 2 600 point WU's that were 2/3 finished that I never got credit for. I still have the log files for those units, I wonder if I e-mailed it to the administrator.... Do you think its worth a shot?

Flinx

Ive got some used but fully functional hardware that I would donate. The only thing that I would ask is that you included me in designing the competition itself. I can see it having the potential to draw some folders. We would just really have to be careful about how we would structure this. Some thought and input from our members and im sure that it would fly. PM me.

Maybe you should cut your OC back to something more stable?

===========================================================

Contest ... hardware. I don't own this folding thing. If you want to donate some hardware or run a contest you can do so. I was satirically throwing the Celeron 333 idea around but somehow in todays age I'm not sure how that collectors item would go over.

Love to hear ideas for a contest. Wish we could get better publicity on the front of Toms website though  . Can have an old hardware giveaway. Last 10 guys to join, everyone has to be folding at least 3 weeks to get into the draw. Set a date, 1 month after the 10th guy joins?
Stuff like that? Maybe print a manual on the rules for joining.. every techie nerd will love the manual idea.

Rugger, you're right. The single rig folder are the guys helping us mow down those guys in front of us. Everyone's contribution counts to the team. Both computational and team spirit.

I think sjon posted alink a while back about partial WU completion. Apparently one of the Folding servers was having issues with giving points out correctly. It's definitely worth a shot sending an email to their admin Bubbas.

Well its finally happened. Someone has taken over 2nd place; congratulations Sparky853. Now they'll be after you don't slack off or they'll stomp you into the ground... hehe. Actually, it didn't take Sparky853 very long after he got those extra machines on board.

There are a couple challenges ahead. Cisco systems is presently at 220. It'll take us a couple days to catch them. Alien Soup is at 215; wonder if those bugs speculated for Mars will be tastey. It's a little over two weeks to get under the 200 mark.

Hey Guys any idea on a contest or a way to drum up business? I don't want to have u guys having to dig me out of my grave to tell me we've made it into the top 100  .

Well, I just set up F@H yesterday when I finally got DSL. I've had a few weird problems with it though.

I set it to run only as a screensaver, but then when I left it running and came back, it hadn't processed any further than when I last saw it. :\ I'm wondering if that has something to do with the fact that I have my monitor set to power off or something. Anywho, it wasn't being playing too nice. So I'm currently running it manually since I don't want it munching CPU cycles when I'm playing a game.

The other weird thing was that it was only using 2% of my CPU, even when my CPU was completely idle. :\ Talk about getting nowhere slowly. I had to use the switch to raise its priority just to get it to do anything. Last that I saw this morning before I ran off to work it was clipping along nicely at least.

So hopefully my first workload will come in sometime. I'm not sure if I'm up to running my PC 24/7 for this or not. I'll have to see how it affects my electric bill. :O

Welcome aboard Slvr!

I don't want it munching CPU cycles when I'm playing a game.
Don't worry about it - I left mine on constantly and never noticed a slowdown. More tellingly my Rome:TW-addicted flatmate didn't complain that it was slower than it used to be, and he always whinges about stuff like that.... I must admit to being very impressed with just how 'invisible' the client is.

Well I could believe it being that invisible while it's using only 2% of my CPU. But I wanted it to use more when I'm not using my PC. So I upped its priority so that it would use more. And that's good ... except for when I want to play games, becauase then it'd be taking away half of my CPU.

I could drop the priority back to the lowest setting, but then I'd be wasting CPU potential during downtime. :\

What I don't understand is why it is only using 2% when nothing else is going on. I would have thought that even with the lowest priority it would have used more if nothing else was using any.

But so anywho, because there's no way to make it up the priority while in screen saver mode, there's no way to automate some approrpiate usage settings. I have to either manually adjust it or be content to process slowly. :\ I wish it just had two priority setting screens: one for normal mode and one for screen saver mode. Then all would be good. (Or all would be good if lowest priority used my CPU better.)

Am I the only one with this problem?
