Is there a reason for this? Is the information at
http://marvin3m.com/wpc/index3.htm#flip (WPC rebuild)
and
http://marvin3m.com/restore/index3.htm#flip (EM rebuild)
not sufficient or something?

Those guides have some good info, some bad info. They're put together
kind of shabbily and difficult to glean the useful information from the
BLAH-BLAH-BLAH. What's the problem with someone offering the
information in a different format?

Just took another break (there are many during the day, he, he).

Hello Clay, hope all is well, how are ya?

> Is there a reason for this? Yes, I believe my tips are beneficial. if you've read the entire thread I wrote you'd have seen that I like to help people and keep the machines I sold running. Since they haven't invented a holodeck yet, if a guy that bought a machine from me is not local, I either troubleshoot over the phone, via email, and/or I illustrate a point with pictures and added info.

I post these tips for people that exclusively buy machines from me as
an added service, and also lately, people who fix their own machines
that keep emailing me and calling me with problems. I sell games with a
lifetime warranty and that is a part of the support I give.

> not sufficient or something? Not a matter of being sufficient or unsufficient. I feel they are helpful and beneficial and I have decent fun doing it. It also makes me feel better when I help someone with something that I may know about and they don't. Then they get their game fixed and all is well.

If the repair guides are too complicated, not detailed enough, too
detailed,
pictures too small, info outdated, info wrong, or anything like that,
i would really like to know! i will update and make them better, but i
need
to know *what* to make better. Aside from Cody's totally negative
comments
(which i can't get any useful info from, other than he hates the guides
for hypocritical reasons), i would *love* someone to give me a list of
what is exactly wrong or needs changed/edited/added/deleted/reworded.

LOL! Please do elaborate. What about this "hypocrisy" that drives my
hatred? I'm not sure I'm familiar with it. Did you run out of Canadians

Many of us would be screwed without it. Not in a good way.

Oh, since you asked:

"Properely" is spelled with one 'e'. There's a few hundred corrections
for ya! The only other thing I can remember off the top of my head is
some of the solder work in the reference pix looks like it was done by
Hellen Keller after a sixpack of malt liquor!

very valuable, why such comments?

Geez, Clay. Whats wrong with others sharing their techniques? Huh? He
actually did the work, took the pictures and documented his procedures.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with that and in fact, everything right
with it. Are you getting paid on a per click basis? Of course you're
not. So why the flipper envy? :)

You're not getting it. No one is knocking your guides. So why are you

Chill dude! Your pages are the "TOP"s in repairing anything pinball, but it
is nice to have a different perspective and with a little humor installed.
The tapes (cd's) bring out your humor well and the website is totally in
depth. Nobody is trying to rain on your parade, just trying to their share
of helping.

I'm just giving Clay/Shaggy a taste of his own elixir. *He asked.* I do
not argue there is a lot of useful info there. I do not think my
statements were untruthful either. IIRC, look at the pictures for the
Bally Rectifier "mods". Self-explanatory? Or have the pix changed?

"Properly" has been spelled incorrectly since day 1. *He asked.* I'm
not on a crusade...anymore. Just callin 'em like I'm seein 'em.

Clay,
I can tell you from a totally novice point of view with electronics your
website taught (and still does) me a lot about repairing my games. There is
a ton of "BLAH" that I had to read through to find what I needed, but
without the "BLAH" a lot of your explanations would not have made much
sense. The small pictures are very helpful in the fact that I can find that
same image on my game. I would base your edits to the website on errors that
are found, maybe wrong info, or stuff like that. Don't base it upon the fact
that some people don't like it because it may not win any website awards for
being the "Best Dressed" but it wins most useful hands down.

You want to talk about being a hypocrit? Oh, lets! When you
(Clay/Shaggy) gets criticism on "his" work, one of your blustery
retorts is always "Let's see you make a web page, nah!" (OK, I added
the nah part). Well this guy did. Instead of appreciating someone
making the effort to do *EXACTLY WHAT YOU ASKED THEM TO DO*, you
pollute the group with your self-indulgence puke and get this guy's
site hacked. Contemptable.

Clay, YOU ARE THE HIPPO-CRITTER!! How does your monstrous ego not
rupture your skull? Oh, I forgot, there's plenty of free space for
expansion. LOL!!

To me and I am sure many others, your guides are the bible for pinball
repair. I also find myself thinking I wish those pictures were bigger
or that there were more pictures! People learn things in different
ways, for some it is easier to see 12 pictures showing the process and
some captions rather than to read 4 paragraphs and see 2 pictures.

The info might be the same but the way it is presented is different and
may or may not apply to you. I think Adi is just trying to "show"
people how things are done and not take away from what you have provided.

I hope that makes sense.

As a complete and sometimes fustrated newbie, I'd say that everything
helps. That's my experience. I've printed and read Marvin's wonderful
guide, but sometimes I understand some things better when explained by
others...

Cliff, i was not implying there was anything wrong with what Adi did.
Where did i say that in my post? I don't see how people would think
this.
That's a really negative attitude bubbling up here.

I was just *asking* if there was a problem with the marvin3m.com
information, and if it was lacking. If the info is not good,
incomplete, incorrect, etc etc, I would like to hear about it.
I try and make the guides as good as possible, but obviously
user input is key to making the guides better. For someone to
"reinvent the wheel", there may be a problem with the marvin3m
information. If there's a problem with the info, I want to fix it!

I don't understand this nagative wave. Someone even implied that
Adi's site got 'hacked' by a marvin3m supporter. WOW, I'de say
it's time for their medication.

Actually, your guides are like gold. But, I have found that I am in
agreement with some when it comes to the need for variety. I have gone
over your guies MANY times in repairing pins and boards for people.
But, I have also relied on other sites as well. Ray Johnson has many
tidbits, Leon has a TON of stuff, and there are many more like John
Robertson, etc. I think a big part of this, as someone mentioned, is
pictures. Your explanations may be right on, but sometimes, a picture
will bring it all together. I have had to read some of your stuff, go
to Leon's site, look at his pictures and visa versa. So, I guess I am
trying to say that the more the merrier. Variety is the spice of life
and having people post their technical "how-to" guides can only benefit
us all.

In Googling the group, I came across countless cudos, thank-you's, and
acclaim for your articles, your site, and the DVD's you are involved
in. I don't think there is any question as to how you have kept so many
of these pins alive, or anabled so many pins to be brought back from
the dead.

"Properely" is spelled with one 'e'

I'll bet that's really going to keep someone from fixing a problem that
they are having. The guides are great - you need to get over it.

I hope I spelled everything right for you in this post.

Hi Clay,

Unfortunatly it's very simple (and sick)... No good deed goes
unpunished.

You made us all so many great free guides and (almost free) videos, I
(perhaps most of us) started from day one with your guides and they got
us to where we are today with many machines all working/looking great.
Sometimes we forget how to appreciate something (Clay/Shaggy, and Norms
ADD camera technique, and Saphires assets) untill it's gone forever.
Please keep on keepin' on Clay and try to disregard the negative
Nancy's. They built you up just to knock you down, it's very
disfunctional and sad.

BTW I'd like to say nice job on the new flipper guides too, ALL (good)
guides and/or material out there is an asset to the hobby.

I consider it an honor to address you directly Clay, GodSpeed sir!
Please keep up the great work, you make pinball a better hobby.
Karl.
