Temp Difference between cores..

Hey, quick question guys. I just took off the CPU heatsink on my laptop (CPU= intel P8400), and after replacing the stock thermal goo with some good compound I'm noticing that the temp difference between the two cores is between 5-8degrees (normally 5).
I don't remember seeing this discrepancy before but the temps are still lower nonetheless.

My Idle temps are ~34 according to RealTemp 3.0, about 10 minutes after applying the paste.

Hi, I have an e8400 in my desktop and one core always runs a little hotter than the other, currently core0 is 38 and core1 35 and there's usually a 3-6 degree gap. It's nothing to worry about.

The more I monitor the temps the more its making me worry, min temps seem fine but the max temps are pretty far apart.
The Max temp for Core0 is 52, where Core1 was only 41
The min Core0 is 31 vs 26 for Core1.

Seems to average core0 at 33 and core1 at 28

The max temps can vary because the CPUs are not both being thrashed... try running two Prime threads at the same time.

Even without that, all sorts of things could cause the difference... slight difference in thermometer positioning, slight difference in thermal compound application, slightly off-center cooler, slightly angled silicon in the chip.

But it doesn't matter. So long as both are well below the fry-zone, you are fine.

Yea I'm not too worried anymore, the pic I posted above is my temp results on prime 95 and the temps were well within range.
Also the paste seems to have set a little more so my temps are even cooler than what I posted yesterday.

On a side note, my q9550 (which is lapped, and obv cant be done on a lappy CPU) only has a difference of 3degrees max between cores after a prime 95 run.
