i just installed the i5 3570k cpu and h60 cooling and sitting in bios after just installing temps are sitting at 43-47c is that good or do i need to re seat it i have smart fan turned off and everything for the pump. my case is a 300r corsair i have fans everywhere on it and my motherboard is a z77a-g45 msi please let me know if i should try re seating it.

I can't see that picture fella. But when it comes to the temps, there are a number of reasons for it being that high. First up is that there may be air bubbles between the cooler and the CPU which would stop the cooler from dissipating the heat properly. The next is that there is too much or not enough thermal paste, which would also stop the effective transfer between CPU and cooler. As I don't know if you lifted the cooler off completely when you reseated it, I can only guess as to which one is the actual problem.

My advice for now would be to leave everything as it is, don't attempt any overclocking and order yourself some MX-5 thermal paste. Once it arrives strip everything apart and clean off all the old thermal paste thoroughly...
If that is idle, with a water cooler, then you really need to re-seat it. I run a 4.4GHz OC on my i5 3570K with a Xigmatek Dark Knight Night Hawk Frostbourne Air Cooler. My idle temps are 24-28C with fan speeds set to run quietly and I top out at 76C under load. Those temps should be attainable for you with that H60.

Wipe that old stuff off! The stuff they ship coolers with is rubbish for the most part. Get yourself a lovely tube of MX-5 my friend, I have the same thing on my rig, my HTPC and my GF's rig. The stuff works wonders. And remember: Don't over do it :)

I have re seated it and im still sitting at 41c better but not much and this is after re seating it multiple times this is the most stable its been I dont get why because there is no possible way for me to try a different way my mainboard system is at 28c why cpu is at 41 if that makes a difference could it be the way I have the fan and radiator set up I have the fan behind it sucking it out threw the back and top but I wouldn't think the way I have the fan would make that much of a difference

Once that's done you should see temperatures somewhat closer to the ones I have right now.

ok sweet sounds good and ik you cant see it your supposed to copy and paste it in url if you can?? lol but thank you i will do that it one of those things i reapplied thermal paste today and that's where im at now so ill redo when i can get some of the good stuff and hopefully that works something has to even though its felt like i have done everything i did pull it all the way off and re sat and put new thermal paste on but just only got a few c lower in the bios but when i do hw monitor i see 4 different cores between 33-43 never above 59 if i was gaming (wanted to test it out at load) but if u can check the picture out copy and paste and get back to me if not ill let you know how it goes after i re do it all

I have under 30'C degrees with an E8500, Coolermaster K280 case and Coolermaster GeminII M4 cooler. I used a pea sized amount in the middle of the CPU and installed the heatsink directly. In other words, I let the pressure of the heatsink spread the Arctic ceramique without introducing an air bubble.

You can use 100% rubbing alcohol to clean the old thermal interface material with Q-tips.

Ok cool thank you im still gonna re do it idle temps trip me out but good to know its good for now thank you for all your help you are awesome

why have you worry about idle temps? do you notice a noise difference in your PC when under load?

It could be that when under low load/idle that your CPU cooler doesn't spin the fans much(to keep noise lower/no need to cool more) and then under load your Cooler starts working hard. That could be why there is a small difference between idle/load.

Average idle temps for a stock clocked i5 3570K using a Corsair H60 with smart fan off should be no higher than 32-35c depending on ambient temperature. An idle temp of 45c+ is indicative of poor seating or poor thermal paste application. Now if he was OC'ing with the CPU running constantly at say 4.4GHz then I would expect those sorts of idle temps, but he isn't..

Hmm never thought of it that way I have cpu smart fan off though is that maube just how the cooler works? Just odd that other people 30c idle and im 40 with same cooler if you copy and paste that link I did few post back that will.show you what hw monitor said can you tell if im reading it right and that's after I played world of watercraft for a few min

Update: I got some nice as5 some articlear or whatever re did it all and I did it good seated it good and its better I dont go above 55c when gaming and 3 of my cores idle between 27c and 34c but I have one that idles at 35 41 mainly in 30 is thar normal do these temps look good enough to do a little Oc thibking 4ghz

Hi again!

Those temps are MUCH better :) As for one core running slightly hotter than the others don't worry, it is perfectly normal and won't cause you problems. It seems your problem is 100% solved!!

Awesome thank you for being so nice and helpful 😛 so these temps are good enough to over clock?? Wpuld like to try a mild one dont do video editing so dont need anything special.

You are very welcome, I am glad I could help. As for overclocking on those temps, you should be just fine as they are very similar to mine and I overclock to 4.4GHz :) And if you need any further assistance just post back here as I'll be keeping this thread on my watch list :)
