The point of the Internet/ Arpanet was to avoid a single point of failure scenario.
So now we rig the whole country to use dumb Terminals and 'the cloud'.

I can see Hollywood getting ready :

Movie 1
"The Cloud", staring Bruce Willis as the guy who tries to prevent the bad guys (and lots of them) to bring down the USA by blowing up the cloud servers.

Movie 2
"Aftermath", starring Samuel L. Jackson as the lonely hero trying to bring order to a devastated USA after Bruce Willis failed to stop the Terrorist from blowing up the cloud servers 🙂





 
Yeah, Like that's gonna happen. Here are a few reasons that cloud won't be taking prime time anytime soon:
1) Sloopy internet connections.
2) No control over users personal data.
3) Corporates may mine data any number of times.
4) No net connection = non working device. (This might be solved easily)
5) Users like me. I won't hand over my personal data to the cloud ever. So cloud can STFU.
