telecommunication companies have been using & advancing this technology and I think it will be replacing the electronic signal carrying system that PC currently use today to connect IC’s together. And I think it has potential id like to here what other people have to say on this topic.
When IC reach 16Nm or beyond and can’t go any further companies like Intel & AMD might start looking for alternative ways to speed up there computers and one way of doing that is to stop using electronic pathways on there computers and just use the copper pathways to power the intergraded circuits that they put in them.
And then to connect & speed up all those IC’s will be an advanced photonic signal carrying pathway system. Carrying all those hi speed signals to & from the CPU to PCIE ports and the Ethernet etc. And I don’t know about you but id like a hi speed fiber optic connection to the internet. It won’t be who has the fasts CPU but rather how many signals can your computers photonic systems carry every second LOL.
Imagine playing a video game at a very hi resolution and having your video card connected to the computer using Photonics carrying the cards signals to & from the PC’s CPU at light speed with the bandwidth at 10 Terabytes every 30 Milliseconds and your FPS doing 1000 or more its going to be a reality in the next 15 to 30 years.
