With maxwells introduction expect to see low profiled versions of the GTX970 though I also expect to see lower tiered cards come to light. You can already run an overclock with a GTX 970 off of a 450W SFX unit you can pack a good punch there. If you're somewhat stuck with the Raven then don't worry about the height of the GPU 😉

Spine tingled with anticipation 😀

itx in a sleek form factor is my weakness. I took my compact splash cases out of the protective packaging and propped it on my desk. The thing looks tiny compared to my full sized rig. Its also amazing to see how much rad space I can accommodate inside it.

Yeah I'm debating between the case right now - either the Silverstone RVZ01B or the Azza Z. Both seem like solid choices. If I go for an mATX rig I'm thinking of using the Aerocool DS Cube or the In Win 901.

Yeah I'd love to do a full build around the In Win 901. If I were in the market for a new case I'd get the 904 but it's usually a bit out of my price range.

If I do wind up doing such a build I think it would be something like this:

I would skip on the SSD for now... that Kingston drive doesn't look that great for the price in any case. I would save for something like a 840 EVO which is about $20 more, but the performance gain is worth it for the price. I also included a used R9 270 that's in like new condition if you're open to buying used parts.

Also for ~$60 more you could find a used R9 280x on amazon.

Here's my take on the matter, albeit too late probably :/

I thought the same on the SSD but figured he might just want to introduce a speed burst into the picture and showcase how easy an SSD can make life easier. If only as a gaming machine, a 120GB SSD should be satisfactory provided he's not working on photoshop.

Bought myself a GTX 970 last night, and ordering another one from newegg soon to SLI them. They only had MSI versions of the cards, but I decided on the Golden edition instead (The only card with a back plate) and it's really nice! Dead silent, and the temps are pretty good. Noticed that my power usage went down too (180 watts on idle with the 770, 80-90 watts on idle with the 970)

Going to try to sell my 770 locally for 250$ and maybe the game (The crew, Far cry 4, and AC:U) coupon for 30-40$ to someone too, don't want Ubisoft's crap. Is there a way to sell it?

Noticed that Newegg has some decent SSD sales, I would of bought a SSD last night too from OCZ (Vertex 150 120gb) for 50$, but it was a black friday sale, and it's going to sell fast before I finish work at 6pm lol)

If I had a PC for that, I'd buy that coupon right away. Still saving up money. I need a new PC chair because our current one is about to shatter into pieces, no joke. Office Depot has a really nice one for a 100 off, and we have one reserved. 😀 plus, I'm in a quiet town.

lol, that sucks. Seeing that people will use Paypal (I don't really trust paypal) I might have to sell it locally too. I had a leather chair, and it was scratching my floor, because the tube holding the chair was really close to the floor. Switched it out for a cloth chair, soooo much better.

Yeah I very badly want to get a GTX 970 but I'm a bit, shall we say cash poor at the moment. Plus I got to figure out what's wrong with the White Knight before I start tearing my hair out.

The 970 is awesome chip. I was surprised on the power usage verse my 770 with the higher TDP, and the extra performance. I'm deff going to order another MSI golden 970 to SLI, and then get a higher res monitor in the Christmas time.

Still don't know yet - I assume it's the motherboard, and if I have to replace it I'm done with LGA 1155, I will move to LGA 1150 instead, even if that means buying a new CPU. No reason to buy another motherboard and have the same problem. I'm going to take it to Micro Center tomorrow and see if they can diagnose the problem.

Holy crap I'm looking at Micro Center and they have some seriously killer deals on Intel i5-4690K and Z97 motherboard - I'm thinking of going for the combo with the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 for $286, good idea or not?

Well, after searching deals more, they have a USB hub from Targus that I can get for 3. And I need it because my USB ports are failing(front ones) and one of the ones on the mobo has been destroyed by a certain 8-year-old.

I had the USB ports destroyed on an old case because I carelessly stepped on a flash drive that was plugged in at the time (case was on the floor, USB ports were bottom-mounted), but it was an Apevia so no big loss.
