Backup FTW!

A client of mine, inspite of receiving multiple warnings, decided to have all of his data on his laptop drives and all partitions were in the red zone...the drive decided to give up on him just when he was about to assimilate his portfolio.

His come back was:

there was nothing I could do to back it up.

So he has enough money to hire you as a consultant, but does not have enough money to buy an external drive or a BD-R drive and a couple of blank discs? I say fail. :lol:

Good to know. I can't wait, I should be eligible after my next billing cycle. I already ordered the memory card I wanted to get which is a 128GB Samsung card.

I was thinking about all the nice electronics I own. I don't have a huge elaborate collection, but I will say one of my best devices has been the Samsung Galaxy S5. Well I adored the S4 as well, but I upgraded on my birthday to an S5. Samsung makes some really quality gear. I think I'm going to get myself an 8" to 10" Samsung tablet at some point. If I weren't enamored with Samsung phones and tablets, LG seems to have their stuff together as well. Keep an eye on them. All my LG displays are top knotch and very affordable.

Yeah my dad has an LG G2 and really likes it, I've played around with it a bit. The LG G3 is at the top of my list after the Galaxy Note 4. I have no desire to get an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, especially after the bending fiasco.

I've installed the GTX970! That is one massive card. Despite having two fans to my HD7970's three, it is actually longer. One drive cage MUST be removed from my Define Mini for it to fit. I'm not sure I like that, so maybe I'll get another case. I may "suffer" until a more general upgrade, but at least for now means I cannot put any more drives in this case.

Your should see the Zotac Extreme. Dwarfs the Strix. The length even in my case is ridiculous.

So I defragged, ran the delete unnecessary files, ccleaner, malware bytes, took out and put back in the hard drive with the anti vibration mounts this time, and deleted and uninstalled all my unnecessary files. Cleaned up about 20gb on my ssd and 100gb on my hdd, and I am completely free of the grinding. I'm guessing this is b/c the anti vibration mounts, but whatever fixed it worked, and that is all that matters to me! At the moment, it seems as if I am getting a 280x with future crossfire when I upgrade to probably intel or an 8320e and a nice motherboard, so can you guys recommend the quietest model to me? I heard the toxic is for overclockers, and not exactly quiet, but how do these look?

I'm finding alot of good deals on these, on an awesome online community at reddit.com/r/hardwarewareswap, so if anyone wants to browse some good deals on there, there are alot.

Also, i've heard that gpushack.com is good, just alot of refurbished gpus for a very reasonable price. Should I just go amazon?

I would get the Dual-X as it will be alot more quiet out of those two.

Also, paying $289 for a 280x is really dumb IMO because you can just get a 970 for $35 more. IF you are buying a 280x, get one under $240. That is the only way it is worth it. Oh, I wasn't thinking of getting that 280x, just asking if the cooler was good. Do you think it would be worth waiting an additional 2-3 months (probably around march) to get a 970? I'm not really crazy about playing any games until gta 5 comes out (good timing), but I can find 280x's used and fufilled by amazon in very good condition for around 170$.

I could get two for the price of one 970, not that I intend to at the moment because of my motherboard, but in the future.

They have a 2 year warranty and free shipping and 280x's for around 180, so it seems pretty good to me, but kinda sceptical as amazon is the only retailer i've bought from (third parties in amazon too)

I also find it pretty cool that ship things like crossfire bridges and hdmi cables and adapters and things for only $0.50 more with a purchase of a gpu, and no additional shipping fee.

Usually any new GPU comes with a CF/SLI bridge and a DVI adapter for free. Same with molex adapters, although no one uses those vile things.

Also, I would not buy a refurb 280x for $180 when a new one is only $20 more or a sketchy used Amazon 280x that was certainly mined out when a new one is $30 more. I would just wait and buy a 970. You said you don't even play much anyway and are only looking forward to getting GTA V so why spend money now on something worse when you could just get a 970 when you actually will need it?

That is weird - are you getting any error messages or BSODs? Maybe try running in safe mode to see if there's any problematic background processes.

Alight ram seems to be fine, Played BF4, benchmark just to see my score and all good. I gotta get my OVERCLOCKING GAME ON ! Gonna watch Linus's tutorial...I know someone here hates him but...whatever. Lol
