Nice to see Tom's Hardware being thrown around like that. It's pretty awesome to know this place is where poeple get a lot of their trusted info.

As for the CX series, it's been debated here so much, I can see where the first poster may have had some information correct, but I don't think Corsair has a grade A reputation anymore. And I'd have to agree that it's still not for gaming builds. But I am also privy to all the conversations we have here about it, so maybe I'm just biased. [strike]Maybe[/strike] definitely...

One more note, one of the posters quoted the EVGA B2/G2 as being Seasonic. Incorrect, they're SuperFlower. Perhaps I should go there and tell him...

According to the higher ups Tom's recently surpassed CNet as the number one tech site in the world. So yeah, a whole bunch of people get their tech info from here!

Lol, I tell people about their PSUs all the time over there. Kinda made a name for myself doing so.

Also, turkey, rice is a term used to describe a very poorly modified car in bad taste. R.I.C.E is actually an acronym. It stands for Racing Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements. For example, a racecar uses a big wing for downforce, but a big wing on a street car looks stupid.

Here is a photo example of two different EJ8 Honda Civics.

Rice:
ricedcivic_zps502d9dec.jpg

-gaudy paintjob
-'Altezza' (ugly chrome) taillights
-fake dual exhaust
-awful body kit
-pointless terrible wing
-ugly trunk lid with stupid plate location
-fake brake vent cutouts in front fender
-fake single lug wheels

Proper nice looking and well done EJ8 civic:

-no goofy paint
-EM1 front bumper
-OEM Japanese lip kit
-Rare/VERY expensive CCW LM16 wheels that fit correctly
-European OEM headlights

This car would be considered 'clean'.

Just want to make sure of something, I noticed that my front 200mm fan 3 pin header, one of the cables came off the header. So only 2 cables are actually on the header, while the left cable is hanging around. It's plugged in to my PWM fan hub, and it's working just fine.

Question, would I need to replace the fan, and trash it? Or it's ok to continue using it? I have a spare 200mm Cooler master megaflow fan.

Tiny - That's one ugly Civic lol, Looks like it came out of a fast and furious movie. That wing looks ridiculous.

The fan has a ground(-), 12 volt(+) and tach wire. If the tach or speed sense wire falls off nothing bad happens as such since the pwm hub can only report a single fans speed. As long as you are not trying to get the speed from that fan it should be ok. You can even connect that wire to another plug and use it to monitor the fan with your board if you want to.

You can confirm the pinout here.

Tiny, in your long experience, is there really any difference between gases from station to station. Like any MAJOR difference that will make a difference of more than 1-2 mpg at most. We always fill up from ARCO/AMPM because the family sorta mostly owns those... Nothing wrong in the 17+ years.... Same with the Camry till we sold it... and got the Acura.

When I get a car, I really like the BRZ/FRS/GT-86.. Just the styling by itself sold me... More than Likely, I'll get a 2000-2005 Camry or something like that...

there wont be an mpg change unless your car is tuned for higher octane. chevron probably has the best long term fuel with its techron but like any detergent you wont be getting and extra mgg, actually it would be lower, but the difference would be miniscule.

otherwise with cheap arco/other gas that has no detergent you would be better off putting a bottle of quality fuel system cleaner through the engine ever few hundred to few thousand miles if longevity means anything to you. but like your asking, in theory fuel that is NOT california blend or has no detergent in it will get you the best possible mpg. if you never use a fuel system cleaner and like to go 100,000 miles on your factory fuel filter, your best off using chevron or shell though... you might get an extra 10k to 20k miles out of your vehicle before the motor blows at 150,000.

by comparison diesel fuel is much more filthy and lower quality than gas so diesel vehicles have much larger fuel filters with much more frequent recommended change periods. i replace my duramax on every 10,000 miles, and its bigger than almost all oil filters. most gas vehicles fuel filters are about the size of a small coffee cup while diesels have them as large as a big gulp 😛

Figured. I assumed it was all just marketing..
I just downloaded about 50 more wallpapers... I really need to make a wallpaper dump om Imgur... I'm at 174 atm, ranging from computers to cars to Star Wars... Need moar of Star Wars and Computers.

I AM in California.. What is a California blend... California has "special" blends...

You only have 174 wallpapers? I have several thousand lol. All 1920 x 1080 or higher. I could do a dump of Mass Effect or Fallout walls of several hundred each. As much as 4chan is the asshole of the internet /wg/ is pretty damn good sometimes.

I like dystopian, fantasy and steam punk mostly along with good nature stuff. A few current favorites.

Beats me. Just a mech walking into a what looks like to me a Scandinavian or other northern European small town. I like the low/high tech contrasts. It's not a Battletech Mech though so not Mechwarrior. I haven't seen Chappie.

I do not think it is, but I would love to know what it is too.

I have so many wallpapers 😛 . I did not even download them all.

I used to have lots of them(and still have then in another folder). Since I do not look at the desktop much, I never bothered adding much more. I did not even change the 1920 x 1200 ones to 1920 x 1080 when I "upgraded" monitors

This is mostly true. The real difference is the amount of Ethanol in the gasoline. More Ethanol = worse performance and fuel mileage. My mom has a Volvo S60R. In the owner's manual it clearly states that using gasoline with 10%(standard) Ethanol in it is bad for the engine. It says it will cause knock, it will cause lower performance and worse mileage. This is VERY true. In her car, if you put regular gas in her car (10% ethanol) it very obviously runs like crap. sluggish, lumpy idle, and like 15% worse mileage. Remember this is a relatively high-boost turbo car. My Dad's Camry doesn;t give a crap what gas it gets and runs all the same on anything. His daily motorcycle (v-twin, 800cc, fuel injected, shaft driven) had completely gummed up injectors from the previous owner running regular gasoline with ethanol in it, and he had to completely tear apart and clean the injectors and associated components after he bought it. Again the manual says to not use gasolines with ethanol of any amount at all.

My speed6 BARELY runs on 10% ethanol. Again this is a high-boost turbo car. I made the mistake of putting a tank of cheap-o 10% ethanol gas in it without thinking and it was so bad that I had to siphon it out. Car would not idle, would not make boost, threw multiple check engine codes for misfires and knock. Yes my car has a pretty aggressive tune on it, BUT in my owner's manual it says using gasolines with ANY Ethanol will hurt performance and could cause long term damage to the engine.

So, to answer Death's questions, it is VERY dependent on the car. For your average non-turbo 4 or 6 cylinder engine, there shouldn't be any difference, but in turbo cars, big displacement V8s, and motorcycles there is a very noticeable difference between proper gasoline ans the crap you get at most stations now-a-days.

There are even phone apps that will tell you where the closest station that offers no-Ethanol gasoline is.

Gotta agree with the non-ethanol in yer motorcycle. Mine (92 katana) runs so much better on premium sans ethanol. If you can get really lucky and find a local gas station with lead added gas for powersports, those are really nice. Lead is an anti-knock additive most commonly used in airplane fuel, though they are cracking down on that nowadays.

As to putting better fuel in large V8's, are you referring to car V8's specifically? My truck gets maybe a little bit better gas mileage out of higher octane, but that's really about it.

Mostly meant higher output N/A V8s. The current Gen 5L mustang community swears by no-ethanol. It makes a big difference in those cars. Same with older V8s with any kind of work done. I have many friends with budget grudge (streetrace) cars with junkyard 351w /gt40p heads swaps that all claim they run way better with no ethanol.

The ethanol thing is mostly true for smaller engines (motorcycles) and turbo cars.
