Been awhile since I checked this thread, first I saw MasterMace's comment and misread it - thought it said an amazing, not amusing cheap evga psu.. then I read chimera201's comment followed by damric's "where do you live, the land of misfit toys?" and about pmsl. lmfao.
Obviously availability and pricing can be a real ah heck in other places and shift the obvious choices here in the u.s. to something more suiting.
This is just an idea, although likely not a good one. What about using the colors to denote the tier/quality of a psu and just keeping all the brands together. Stating whether a psu is bronze/gold/plat rated beside the model number. That way a quick search through the list, say Antec - list all the known/rated antec models. Those in green are good to go (tier 1), maybe a lighter shade of green for tier 2a etc down to a brown for tier 3, and tier 4 & 5 or whatever the lowest tiers are, denoted in red as in 'warning, use at your own risk'.
When I scroll through the list, some models are so close to one another in name but not rating - the evga b2 is a tier 2a, the evga b1 is tier 3. I find myself bouncing around the list trying to find where the model is. The varying colors currently associated with power efficiency sort of conflict, my eyes are drawn to the bronze and gold while the silver and platinum are briefly lost in comparison with the gray background of the forum pages. Also, the silver and platinum shades are so close it takes several glances to distinguish one from the other. I get the reason for the color coordination, it matches the rating. Not saying the list is bad, it just might be easier to read? I also get that it's been the way it's been for awhile and changing may cause confusion, so like I said maybe a bad idea (I can't always have good ones lol).
