Here we go again. I second the motion of avoiding the CX models. Although, it's probably about five times, at least, better than the Dynex which is a Tier 5 unit.

Very good choice.

Edit: The LEPA MX F1 600W should be placed at Tier 5. It is the worst power supply reviewed by [H]ardOCP and joins the performance level of a Diablotek. 100% definitely not recommended.

realhardtechx is showing some "new" models for Seasonic S12II Bronze. Like the 'new' SS-520GB has 2 8-pin connectors and 5 yrs warranty whereas the old ones had 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin connectors and 3 yr warranty. Any news on these?

They must be really far behind then, because my brother's S12-II 520 has 2x 8 pin power connectors, and that unit has been released for quite some time.

So its just a revision? Nothing new about it? I have the old one

I don't see any real reviews of the new ones but it looks like according to the listing on RealhardtechX anyway, that they are a single rail design as opposed to multi rail like the older units. I'm not sure the older models were true multi rail units or not without some research I don't have time for right now but they are listed as such in the database. The newer units also look to be rated at 50C.

The database is wrong. They didn't have two +12V rails. Seasonic just put a misleading label on those original S12II Bronze models. It was a marketing ploy, back when the S12II Bronze series was released, when having multiple +12V rails was the fad. The warranty period was also 5 years even back in 2010.

jonnyGURU.com's teardown of the Seasonic S12-II 520W shows that it does not have two 12V rails at all - it's a single 12V design. There is no multirail overcurrent protection in there.

^ I thought I remembered reading something to that effect. Thanks for the clarification.

Edit: And I'm 100% sure because I own it lol

In the US the back of the packaging showed 3 Year Warranty. On the front of the box there is a sticker showing 5 Year Warranty.

The warranty period was changed after the packaging had been printed up.

But Russia is still outside of the US and they got the 5 Year Warranty too. I'm in Canada and that's also outside of the US and we got the 5 Year Warranty too.

The 3 Year Warranty only applies to some parts of the world, not to all locations outside of the US as you claim.

I believe it's 3 years for Oceanic regions for low end Seasonic units and then 5 years for the X series and up.

Thank you for this resource. It helped me choose a Seasonic X650 at a good sale price a few weeks back. Ha, all I need now is almost all of the other components to complete my build

Well, you've got to start somewhere and that's a good unit to do it with.
