Thermal Paste 2

Too much and too little is not good, but how important is it NOT to get thermal paste outside the kernel area (ex. on the purple area of an AMD chip). I was told both sides of the spectrums. Can someone help clear things up? ThanX

The only danger with too much is that is spreads onto the capacitors and L bridges. When that happens, your chip could get damaged.
