Question Thermal Throttling issue

I bought a 14900k to upgrade my 12900k and now the pc is thermal throttling to 100C at just 1-4% cpu load. It worked fine with the 12900k, so I reinstalled it and now the 12900k is also thermal throttling under the same conditions. I thought maybe the aio pump had died but its still idling at around 30C. I've repasted and reseated the cooler a handful of times already and its been the same result every time. I'm at a loss at this point, any help would be amazing. My specs are Asus ROG Z690 E gaming, I9-14900k (but also tested with old 12900k with same results) Asus ROG 4090, 64gb DDR5 6400 Mhz running at 5000 mhz, Arctic liquid freezer II 420 with a push/pull setup.

have you checked to ensure you do not have an air lock in your aio pump? or that the pump is working?

how old is the aio cooler? they typically only last about 3-5 years with moderate to heavy use before the liquid evaporates inside enough to start showing signs such as thermal throttling.

e/ aio pumps can be opened up to flush and re-fill, but warranty is void, and they can leak afterwards.

howdo you have your rad set up? in the face of your tower, or on the top panel? feed and return hoses at the bottom of the rad? or top, if front panel mounted?

No sign of air lock, It seems like the pump may actually be dead. I turned off all the fans and gave her a listen and its dead silent, no vibrations from the pump, both hoses are same temp. The cooler is only maybe 3 months old which sucks.

that sucks 🙁 sorry to hear that.. i would start the RMA process on it. or complete a straight return.

if you are looking for liquid, i have used and loved the corsair h100i. imo worth the additional cost due to less headaches. also boasts an aproximate throuhput at peak up to about 84cfm and 0.84L/m (i believe this to be 2nd highest throughput in the aio industry? but could be wrong.. its been a while since looking into aio coolers)
