[citation][nom]jkflipflop98[/nom]Rift in a game about sitting in a fighter craft? OMFG it's going to be awesome.[/citation]

As stated on their kickstarter page:

"We have backed Oculus Rift and will support it in Star Citizen / Squadron 42. Who doesn't want to sit in their cockpit, hands on your joystick and throttle, swiveling your head, to track that enemy fighter that just blew by?"

"For now Star Citizen will roughly need the same minimum system requirements needed to run Crysis 3."

are you trying to give people a heart attack , or just being the usual typoprone no research tom's reporter incident ? crysis 3 IS NOT the same thing as crytek engine 3. crytek engine 3 is what crysis 2 uses (far cry 1 used crytek engine 1 , crysis used engine 2 , and crysis 2 used engine 3 ). crysis 3 will use cry tek engine 4. need to fix this title baddly.

Wait, what the... Cryengine 4?! As far as I know right now the free sdk of the new engine is at 4.3 so basically it is the Cryengine 3(.4.3) There is nothing (news, rumors) regarding a/the Cryengine 4. Well, besides wishful thinking and some user generated speculation…at least until the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony come out, imho

its called cryengine,
crysis 3 uses cryengine 3, just like crysis 2, granted a more developed version of that engine.

the same minimum specs is really not true, it will probably use less hardware than crysis 3, if only because its in space, unless they make everything uber detailed and the game scales poorly.

Maybe the alpha version of the game will be a bit “ugly”, but you have to consider the fact that the game is due out in 2 years (more or less), so I would lie to consider the possibility of the “minimum specs” to diverge or/and being quite higher from those currently required for Crysis 3…yes, even though it is (only?) an MMO. As I stated before there are new technologies that will come into play in two years like the ddr4, new amd/nvdia graphic cards, amd/intel processors, Oculus Rift (you can actually walk around in a ship… so that would be cool) etc. And as stated by the developer himself on the official page/kickstarter:

• “The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated”

The traditional publishers don’t believe in PC or Space Sims. Venture Capitalists only want to back mobile or social gaming startups.

I say they’re wrong. I say that there is a large audience of PC gamers that want sophisticated games built for their platform. And inside this audience, a significant group of people that have always loved space games, and if given a quality one again will be happy to play it.

• Let’s put high-end PC gaming and Space Sims back on the map!

• “As you upgrade your PC, Star Citizen will take advantage of your extra processor cores, memory or
GPUs. This is why you’re a PC gamer – you love being on the cutting edge, not stuck in the past!”

If they stay true to their “statement”, than (I hope that) we will see a game that actually uses the “power of the pc” as it should be/have been used, imho

I would like to apologize for my nerd rage here, but I’m quite sick of all the games (ports) being restricted by consoles and now phones, tablets and whatnot. I would really like to see an actual top quality game, to be developed by pc gamers for pc gamers, and I do believe Star Citizen is one such game.

personally i dont like high end games being made, because graphics are an excuse for publisher to try and get more money, and when things cost more to make, they are willing to take less risks.

im personally just fine with the way pc gaming is today, graphically at least.
i like that games dont come out that require a complete upgrade of a computer from barely 2 years prior.

im honestly hoping that with tessellation, and tessellation mapping, we no longer have to worry about polly count ever again.

[citation][nom]yarmock[/nom]A gts 450 and e6600?? Seriously at what resolution 800x600? I thought it was gonna melt pcs?[/citation]

Seriously, I've played Crysis 3 MP OB with a gts 450 on a wolfdale cpu with high quality textures on, FX all low but my screen resolution was full HD, so there u go, your assumptions are false. (fps was good 30+).

[citation][nom]tirvon[/nom]Now if only 24 months from now my i5-3570K & GTX 670 were still as kick-@ss as they are now.... *sigh*[/citation]

On the bright side, when Star Citizen goes out, I'll be able to buy an i7 and a GTX670 lol

Eve online is indeed the most persistent online game I have ever played. As previously posted star systems are independent servers that constitute one whole server. All players play in one universe. There have been numerous occasions where there are more than 40 thousand concurrent players. Still the universe is so vast that you may not see a soul for hours. PVP is very complex and I have to say that the devs have been making updates that unlike most other mmorpgs improve the game rather than spoil it.

Eve is so very complicated as a game.Everything is very elaborately designed to the smallest detail. Mining and crafting are essential, if not crucial. Missions are instanced. But only missions. All others are accessible to all players. There are system with low security where pvp is rampant. There are systems where there is NO pvp at all. There are factions that make the game even more challenging. As for itemization, buy a huuuuuuge notebook and start taking down notes.

Not for those who want fast action.

Considering the crowdfunding behind this project and system requirements that will make even the PS4/Xbox 720 cry...I can't wait to see this game installed on my PC. The potential behind PC gaming (As observed by many here) compared to that of the console is staggering. Keep it 'smart' and don't dumb it down because someone cant take the hour to read through a manual to play it.

I LOVE the fact that after 5 yrs of ownership and enjoyment my 2nd hand E6600 still gets me in the game.
Hell, I might even splash out £30 on the quad core? and crank it up to 300fsb on standard volts. Bi annual upgraders eat your heart out. This is why I went intel. There are sfa athlon 64's still alive from that era that are
'on the list'.

I don't know how you can compare Independence war 2 to Star citizen.

After seeing the "physics" or lack thereof, there seems to be a LOT of "hand holding".

The ships seem to fly around as if they're under water, there's virtually no requirement on behalf of the player to deal with unwanted inertia.

There's no way to rationally explain that, it's all fudged in the name of making sure the lowest common denominator isn't frustrated, and that's about as far from the glory of Independence war 2 that you can get.
