Large WUs definately get you more points at times. Last week sometime my Dual Xeon server with 4GB of ram cranked out 2 WUs totaling over 2000 points all in one day. Gotta love those double gromacs cores.

Anyway about the P3 class PCs I could take a look at some of the ones I have laying around. I guess a few extra points a day wouldn't hurt.

I have a bunch of Pentium 1s laying around in a pile at work should I crank up a P1 farm at work. LOL j/k that would just be silly, and a complete waste of time for 50 extra points(maybe) every week.

I'm coming for the top 3 producers this month look out :!: Already at 4 with nowhere to go but up 8)

BTW EA I think you need to adjust the "weekly ave" in your sig to daily.

Not sure how many people still check this site out, but I have just updated it this morning again with all the new team members as well as the milestones for the last 7 days.

I am gonna make sure it is updated at least once a week, so keep checking the site.

Thanks to all who are folding for Toms Hardware Guide Community.

Sparky

Hey man thanks... I saw that site before, but I didn't bookmark it because I wasn't on it

That's great. I'd love to see THG & the community promote it more.

BTW If you haven't voted yet (in my sig), please do.

Thanks again.

I've had alot of problems with my overclock this past week as a result my daily avg dropped to 50 point/day LOL. I couldn't get a 10k frame WU to finish it kept reverting back 3000 frames when my comp locked, even after adjusting the save interval. OH well, finally just fried my install and started over and now I've almost finished a 500 frame one in under 20 hours ( i think, idk when i started hehe).

UNstable OC's ftw!

Hey great Site sparky I think im going to have 6 cpus , all over 2ghz folding in a week or so, i got this 2.4ghz celery folding on linux to a flash drive and holy crap my x2 throws out WU's like you wouldent believe. im doing 2 of thoes "BigWu" at the same time and it can finish both of them in a day

hi sparky, great that you'll be updating your site again! I'd like to point all the newcomers to the benchmark page and ask them to send in their scores as I'm interested in how those compare to our 1 year old scores!
cheers!

Is the benchmark read from the queue.dat file via EMIII Ok?
It is much more convinient for me.

I know mine are a bit skewed, because they are loading a tiny linux kernal, the FAH client, and nothing else.
For example, the one I use as a server has a 800 P3 copermine & 256 megs of ram benches @ 1708. The ones running 733 celerons get 2252.

Do you want benches from celerons & p3's from 500 to 1000?

I sent my bench score in, I think i pulled down 8763 with AIM, Firefox, CPU-Z,ntune, and some other random apps open. I love my little venice, its a trooper. I can't kill the thing no matter how hard I try. 1.75v? HA bring it ill just lock up b4 i die lol. Anyways.... the ADHD is kicking in.

Continuation:Just bc i was left out of the milestone update, i'd like to say i passed 5K points today. Not too shabby for about 2.5 months of work on a trusty single core. No offense takin to bein left out, honeslty.

I'm thinking of creating a very unique server farm as a decorative item also. The idea is to buy 1/2 dozen cheap ass AMD mobo's and slap some cheap venice cores on them and OC the hell outta them (since i have experiance with Venice's and they are cheap). But the kicker is where do I place the Mobo's? How about mounting them in 2 vertical columns on a wall to show off my creation? OH what insomnia does to the brain of an ADHD person.... if you knew what went on in my head.

Check out some of the brainstorming Killer and I have come up with for notebooks:

Quandary between AMD and Intel Mobile Procs

Happy Folding

Edit: CRAP how am I goin to power them w/o it looking gimp?

Edit: CRAP how am I goin to power them w/o it looking gimp?

how bout puttin the power cables, network cables, etc, through a wall, or mount the mobos on something (obviously not metal unless your spacing) about 1 cm from the wall and have the cables pop up next to the mobo through the mounted material, extend cables from power supplies or something, if you really are going to mount them on a wall, make sure you have onboard ethernet, this is because you wouldn't want something knocking down a PCI card and damaging a mobo, how about using a glass case...?

btw, even if you don't use them for decoration, hide them somewhere and use them for folding

As in a mounting board for amps & accessories in a car stereo install... not a bad idea.

I have 30some compaqs in a room with blue ethernet cable, ram, and spare cpu's thrown everywhere. It's fugly, but I can always shut the door (even though the temp goes up 20 degrees F).

Someday, when I clean it up, I'll post picks. Right now the only pick you guys need is the one of me climbing to the top of the daily producers

I've acctually kept my eye on the daily producer's list just to see how your farm is performing, all in all it looks like a great success no matter how fugly it is lol.

My only issue with the mounting of mobos on a wall is the PSU's that would need to go with them, those will be a challenge. The reason I want some cheap Venice's over a full bow server farm like yours is simply because of space. I live in a one bedroom apt in college, I don't a spare room I can dedicate to an extent to a farm (though i will one day!!!).

I'll post as I revise my design. What you need to do Cunning (just bc it popped into my head) is create a MASSIVE water cooling loop between systems. Of course this would never acctually work because what would happen if you wantd to move just 1 system? Still its a fun idea.

Actually these guys are pretty small, ebay pics here and they only consume about 15-20 watts @ full tilt. One PSU fan at the bottom blows air across a passive heatsink. Full PDF here if you care.

The best part they are cheap to buy, cheap to upgrade, and cheap to maintain.
No disks to fail too (the 4.3 gig ones they came with would be dropping like flies right now, not to mention the added juice and noise).

Did I mention that they are cheap?

My only issue with the mounting of mobos on a wall is the PSU's that would need to go with them

put them on the floor and something in front of them (of course allowing circulation) extend the cables (would that be too much resitance?) all the way up the wall behind the panels or.... mount the supplies next to the mobo's and bring up the cables from behind the panel's as well, then again, you might not even like the idea of panels....

see ya,
Ara

In my farm quest, I found a few links on how to power two MoBos on one PSU. I could dig it up if you are interested.

Here's a farm for ya, and this guy's is pretty!

Ok here are some pics in all there fugliness.
Please excuse the terible photography... I think i could have done better with my treo 650 LOL

Yeah, they're bad, but they're pumping out WU's!

I don't know what the deal is but I'm getting really crappy WU's. I actually got one for 5 points. 5 points!

I'm getting these ridiculous 20,000 frame WU's that take days to complete for only a couple hundred points. A complete waste for my 4 PC's. 🙁

You may want to consider setting big packets to "no".
All of my farm clients (yes they have names192.168.1.xxx, where xxx is it's name :) ) get 153's 241's and lately 202 and 404 gromacs.
None of my P4 or AMD64s have gotten a decent WU in a while. The only reason I haven't changed it myself, is because I'm looking for another 1112 point DGromac.

/me crosses fingers

I feel your frustration.

nice impressions, thx for the pix! 😉
as for the benchmark from the queue.dat file: I guess it will do, sorry but I'm to lazy to install this EMIII (or whatever it is) to compare -- send them in anyway!
and I see that you did adapt your sig, so I changed back to yours again --> thanx!

Nice farm. I especially love the procs strewed about the place. As for the 20k fram WU I'm 1/2 done with mine, talk about annoying. Wth stanford? j/k wonder if i could fold on my PDA LMAO.

I really need to go bargain hunting and "steal" computers form people who don't use them. The hard part is finding ones w/o drives localy (i loathe shipping costs).
