I don't know if you guys still wanted some more help, but I just put a dedicated Linux server on the team under my username.

Thanks... I figured it out shortly after I asked... some tasks are harder than others! 😀

We always welcome more help. The project is a great one, with potential for helping the human race, and of course we want to move up the ranks. Add all your machines. It really doesn't affect the preformance you get because any time another process needs the CPU FAH gets out of the way.

You have a sig. It says:

Computer Technician/Network Administrator

No I mean the banner showing my folding stats like yours...

BTW I hit 1750 already, in 4 days is that good? I just put a couple dual cores on to run for this weekend. I hope to hit 10000 by Monday.

Not bad at all. Every little bit helps, no matter how small. Any project might be the "big" project that results in a breakthrough.

If they are faster dual cores, you should consider the SMP client. The PPD are better than doing individual clients on each core.

To get the folding stats I had to go to a site called dcsig.com and pick it out. You create an account there and they keep an up to date image on their servers and give you a link to it. Then you put the url in an img tag (the one in my code shows you how) and they refresh it every hour or so and it shows up where ever you have it set up.

I use THG9 it was set up by CunningLinguist, one of our top team members, for anyone to use.

I threw it on my computer too. I must say, the interface on the PS3 is much nicer. A nice shot of the earth spinning at night with the lights of the cities with some nice music as the work progresses in a window in the bottom right corner...lol.

Kinda cool that the PS3 comes with the link on the machine to start. It's actually what made me remember it.

How is the PS3 producing? It looks like you are putting up respectable numbers, how much do you think is from the PS3?

Do you all know what you are calculating? I mean does the university like ever tell you that the data is being used for anything? It just seems like such a waste of power.

It's definitely doing much smaller WU's compared to my computer. The average one the PS3 gets takes about 6hrs while my computer's getting nearly 2 day projects. (a X2 4400+) Also, with the PS3 it can't run in the background. It has to be turned off to game or watch a Blu-ray flick.

I had a handfull of jobs rejected this weekend because: "Server is not currently looking for this core" or some variation of that text. All were SMP cores completed with 18 hours. Anyone ever see that before?

The idea behind FAH was to run in the background while you are using your computer, i.e., when you already have it on and are doing something or when the screensaver activates inbetween tasks. The fact that users and teams became competitive in seeing how much processing power they could devote to FAH is a nice bonus for them. It costs maybe $10 a month to run a couple of machines 24/7, look at it as a charitable donation - shame WUs aren't tax deductible :pt1cable:
