So I've done ship and the mansion (best mission so far) and now I need
to investigate the sewers in the docks. But where exactly is the
entrance to the sewers? I've searched high and low but have obviously
missed something somewhere.

If you have just entered the Docks district, with your back to the
door/portal, turn and follow the wall to your RIGHT and you'll get
there. There's an "indentation" in the wall and a ladder down. Follow
it and you'll get to the Citadel(?) mission.

If you take out your map you'll see that it's marked with a thin
arrow.

As you gate in, turn to your right, facing the supply shop. Then go a
little in that direction, keeping your eye out on your right for a
dark alley. That's it.

One thing to bear in mind is that at this point the orientation of the
map is 90 degrees off. Maybe a little twist thrown in to keep us awake.
