i got a cheap XPS from 2008(XPS 630i) with a core 2 quad q9550 CPU and dual AMD HD 4800 series(not sure exactly which ones) GPU which i can use with crossfirex. Which GPU would improve game performance and work with this PC?

A single GPU is your best bet. RX570 4GB or GTX1060 3GB is as high as you'll manage with a C2Q and even those are probably overkill. They perform the same. Not guaranteed the mobo will recognize modern UEFI GPUs though. Check into that.

What PSU is in the machine? Probably need a new PSU.

Thanks. I think its a 750w. At least that's what others have said that owed the same PC. Is there a way to check ?

c2q 9550 is a nice little furnace...lol. not the greatest cpu for todays gaming. make sure you game at 900 or 720p..graphics to medium and get a 1050ti 4gb. and your set for some 60fps doom!

i feel that the 9550 heats up my room lol no lie. im just looking to play last gen games at a solid 60 fps. Medium settings @ 900p. looking for an AMD card though tbh.
