So my friend painted his Vulcan. I don't think that he comes to TH anymore or at least not this thread so I'm posting on his behalf. Looks pretty good if you ask me. He downsized from a Storm Trooper so the CM isn't as wonderful as it is before, resulting in him not putting any pics of the inside up. It's a power house though.

GPU: EVGA GTX 670 FTW Edition

CPU: i5-2500k clocked to almost 5ghz I think

8GB Corsair 1600 Mhz 2x4GB

PSU: Some Kingwin Lazer thing but he just bought an 850W XFX Modular PSU and I'll put inside pics up for him once that is installed.

Mother Board: I don't know. Some new mATX

HDD: One 1TB 7200RPM, One 1.5TB 7200RPM, One 120gb SSD. I think he has a third HDD like 500gb or something but I am unsure.

Case: NZXT Vulcan (Black and White custom edition :p)

Also, I figure I'll include a full setup shot of the Battle Station. Since this picture the case is a vulcan, the speakers have been repositioned by yours truly, the desk is sanded and stained (we built it) there is a huge couch down there, there are lights underneath the desk, there is a new stereo receiver, and there are now 4 monitors. Hell yeah.

I will post updated pictures later tonight if not then tomorrow during the day time.

jrwizbang - You should wrap those spruce 2x4s with some decent finish wood. Poplar if you're going to paint it solid. How dark did you stain the top of the desk? That looks like 3/4 birch plywood, so poplar would go nice with it, you would just have to handpick the wood so you don't get any with greenish stripes because it will stain too dark.

Kind of bummed I didnt take better pictures of just my desk I made. I used scraps from a couple of jobs I did, I used heart of pine for the top, red oak for the trim and drawer face, and douglas fir for the legs and frame.

(I don't actually have either of these computers anymore)

But yeah I would give the top a light stain, then trim the perimeter of the top with a darker wood for accent, as well as the legs and give that two coats of stain (depends on the look you're going for really) and then give it a couple coats of poly and you will have something really special!

Good work on the desks .. I managed to finnish off a tiny 100 square foot area of my basement and built roughly an eight foot mahogany built in puter desk . Now just have to build the computer . Priorities my be out of wack ?

Seems smart to have a good solid desk first, instead of having a flimsy one. Kinda like buying a gtx 580 and having a 400 watt psu. +1 your priorities are correct in my opinion.

Where did you get the mahogony? I gotta special order stuff like that, and it aint cheap!

Heres just some updated pictures of my FT02 FX8350 rig which has the outside externally mounted garden radiator.
Its running at 5ghz and has been now for a good 4 months, with no signs of condensation even though that was a concern for me, i must be lucky.
So yeah ive just tidied the rig up a bit, what do you guys think?

I know what your saying but it does not seem to effect it, the pump is rated at 800lph,oh and ive used 1/2 ID -3/4 OD tubing,so maybe thats why, also the temps are astounding but again that could be down to the externally mounted 3x140mm rad, a pic for those who missed it...

I moved into a new case today. Went from a Rosewill Blackhawk Mid Tower to a Fractal Design Arc Midi. It's still a work in progress, I was short one 140mm fan because I made the mistake of ordering 3 140's and 2 120's when I should have got 4 140s and 1 120. I also have one more HDD to add. Might end up making some green accent lighting for it as well. There's much more space behind the motherboard tray in this case, but still I am looking to upgrade to a full modular power supply so I can sleeve individual cables and not have so much unused cable tucked under the HDD rack.
