Civ V is my favourite civ game as it is the first civ game where I have a semi large group of friends that are playing multiplayer together and having fun trading, helping and backstabbing eachother.

I started playing civilization back with Civ I, but I didn't really get into the game until Civ II. I always loved to play as the Aztecs. Something about the mysteries of their history and civilization in general always drew me towards them. I always loved to get Chitchen Itza, it felt satisfying completing a wonder that actually belonged to the civilization. I also liked to play the mongols and build up a powerful army and imagine myself going marauding across the world.

As for the game itself. I really enjoyed history and the ability to reenact history was fascinating to me or to even change it to your hearts content. I loved that you could take your time and think and plan. I think Civ II will always hold that special place in my heart as one of the original games that I truly loved.

Civ II. was my first Civ. game, so that is closest to my hearth. Aside from that, all titles are great.

Recently i grabbed Civ V and already got 20 hours in it very good game indeed and now from what i i've seen civ VI is even better.

Civ I is my favorite. Not because it was the best in the series but because it was the first turn-based game I tried and I was easily sucked in. An hour easily turned into six when I played it.

I would have to say Civ5 is my favorite, as the reason being my gf only plays strategy games and it was the game we played together the most. As for the civilization it has to be Egypt, because when i played the first civ i though you had to be the right civ to build a wonder and i liked pyramids

Out of all the Civilization games, what was your favorite civilization to play, and why

I'm a latecomer to the Civ series, the V was my first and I picked it up in the humble bundle. I liked it a lot and decided to try the earlier versions, so far I like the IV the most. As a Norwegian, it's fun that we're finally featured as a nation in the new one. We did have Norwegian ski troops when you played as Denmark in V, that was fun too.

My personal favorite would have to be Civ 5 if only for the really great memories I've made playing at 2am with friends while we launched nukes at whoever we pleased cause they took land we wanted.

Those were some good times.

I watched a friend play the original, which I actually thought was super cool watching the upgrades to the castle looking "base"/city. I actually wish those visually when upgrading your city took place made a come back - maybe start with a tent/TP sort of "HQ" for your 'government' than gets replaced by upgrades and tech advances.

I never played II and don't think I played III. Between IV and V, my easy favorite is IV, but wish it had the graphics of V. I know it was loved by some and hated by some, but I really didn't like the no more unit stacking change that came with V. So kind of by default my favorite is IV. I also logged probably 2x-3x the hours on IV.

Answer: CIV V, excellent graphics, ui, tons of content and some awesome expansions, also multiplayer to play with friends/family.

Haven't played Civ before and am interested in starting with Civ VI. Sid Meier's Pirates was my favorite computer game growing up and deserves a modern reboot. Have played a bit of Age of Empires so I'd like to see if Turn Based Strategy appeals to me as much as RTS.

The best kept "secret" about the civ franchise is that the best one was Alpha Centauri!
But yeah, civ 4 was also cool. or something.

Civ 1 was my first and I have fond memories of that game. Civ 2 was also fantastic as a younger person. Never got to play civ 4 but did get to play Alpha Centauri which was real interesting.

So far, I liked Civ 5 and Civ: Beyond Earth. Haven't got civ 6 so not sure how that compares/stacks up.

I've played II, Alpha Centauri, IV & V and it's a close run between IV and V. II got me into Civ and I didn't play enough of AC, but I put loads of hours into IV. V is currently sitting at the top of my most played list on Steam, clearing the next competitor by at least 400 hours.

So I'm going to plump for V. Much better wars in V and I love building huge carrier battle groups with Marines and Attack Helicopters to storm enemy beaches. So it comes as little surprise that England is my favourite race in Civ V as they get better naval movement. Combine that with the Great Lighthouse and English ships can cross the biggest bodies of water in no time. Plus I love the nation specific unit mods for Civ V.

Really looking forward to letting Civ VI steal another 700+ hours of my life.

My first Civilization game was Civ2 back in the days and that game sure had it's one-more-turn marathons. The second game for me in the series much later was Civilization V (with all expansions) which I would say even with its shortcomings became my favourite one, and after plenty of playthroughs a favourite civilization in the game became Venice partly because of the different tactics required.

I played the series since the third game, and my favourite is Civ IV: Beyond The Sword, with Realism Invictus Mod.

It's the one I had the most fun playing with. Good balance between complexity, management and UI, plus a great OST. And if you haven't tried Realism Invictus, you should really give it more than a look.

Well although i personally have not played civilization i can at least say how i heard of the game.
It was 9 years ago that i had a problem with my computer that was running windows vista. At that time i didn't even have internet and neither was i able to access Tom's Hardware. My only solution was to see a priest who had the skill set and the knowledge to help with my problem. While i visited him for his help he was kind enough to show me the games he was playing on his computer. Dead space was one of them and Civilization III has the other. A turned base strategy game that has evolved all these years. Only to find it's self in a giveaway on Tom's Hardware.
The mystery yet still remains on who will the lucky fellows be that will receive this giveaway.

My favorite was Civ 3.

The first time I played civ was civ 2 on a cousin's playstaion, but Civ 3 was the first one that I got to play until late in the night, late into the next night that is. At the time I was playing Starcraft and I remember getting the tech tree paper and thinking it was huge. Then I got Civ 3 and the tech tree just kept going and going, then there were three or four other trees that you had to pay attention too. I killed so many hours in all sorts of decisions, what to build, where to go, etc, etc, etc.
