Great website for reviews, a lot of the things I have learned and been able to assist in terms of hardware has been because of this site. Forum-wise I don't really use it, but have found several answers there. Love the reviews, very complete. The news, well... a lot of isheeps, fandroids windows fans, Intel, AMD, Linux etc etc etc.... But there is something true. The grammar quality is down. The managers of this website should look at the complains. And special thanks to house70, wemakeourfortune, halcyon, otacon72, willard (haven't seen him/her in a while), etc for making these news comments fun and informative.
Been using the website since 2004-2005.

[citation][nom]house70[/nom]Dude, that's the idea; ordinary people ask questions and a bunch of other people jump in and try to help. This forum never pretended to be the ultimate owner of the ultimate computer knowledge[/citation]

[citation][nom]Article[/nom]For the last few years, our community has been growing by leaps and bounds, and we’re pushing forward in every way to make the Tom’s Community the best gathering of tech experts and enthusiasts anywhere in the world. [/citation]

As you can see those statements contradict to some degree!
I'm not saying questions aren't being answered. Average Joe's questions will be answered and often with reasonably sound suggestions and solutions. But that doesn't attract the experts that the article mentions the community manager wishes to lure here.

As for the hiring experts - I do when it's work related, but in my sparetime I'd be hard pressed to afford a microsoft premier contract or hire an expert. And in all honesty it'd probably be cheaper to replace my motherboard than contact an electrical engineer to figure out what is wrong with it.
Neither of which I can currently afford in fact, but nevermind that.

Thank you, dude. It's fun to see different minds approaching different topics with... different attitudes.
The real thing is happening in the forums, where people can help each other however they can. That in itself keeps the hope alive, and nothing is more rewarding than seeing topics getting solved at one's suggestion.

When a spammer is identified and permabanned, the site user list is decreased accordingly, and their posts removed.

With over 1.017 million users now, and nearly 10 million posts in the active forum areas, I think it would be safe to assume there are less than a dozen spammers with a few active posts at any given time.

I should add that our users do a great job of actively reporting spam to moderators, so we can keep it at bay.

Thanks.

:)

[citation][nom]robochump[/nom]Congrats TH!!! Just hope 1/2 of the registered users are not spammers...heh.[/citation]
I think they might be sadly....

Hope you're adding a mobile version (or an app) for the forum!

Also, please fire Zak, he's perhaps the most irritating spammer that exists on Tom's.

But yeah, have had a good experience with you gals/guys Since Feb 2011...not to say that i like some of the directions the sites taken in recent times, but the core articles are great!

What's up with the thumbs on page 2? It looks like everyone has an automatic 12-point deduction.

Edit: Correction. What's up with the thumbs on every post before this one? It looks like they ALL have a 12-point subtraction.

12 editors of competing sites are jealous. Either that or someone is trying to prove a point in that one person could simply create 12 accounts to cause "account inflation" meaning number of "registered users" does not actually equate to number of unique readers.

Congrats guys! I've been coming here almost daily for years now and you deserve all the kudos for putting up such a great site for both the techies and non-techies out there.

That maybe the case

Congratulations TH! I consider you home! I keep coming back here for the latest tech news and reviews.

I remember how I got to know this site a few years back. I was researching on how to replace capacitors on a motherboard and then stumbled upon an article here. I then just walked on after learning from it. A while after that, I saw an article on Wikipedia I think on how Tom's Hardware influenced AMD with something (or something like that, sorry it's been so long since that happened). I then remembered this site, thought it was that great for its opinions to be considered by companies, and from then on, I've been reading here a lot. 😀
