Question Trying to fit 2x HDD inside mATX case ideas/help

Hi Guys,

Need some opinions on the best way to tackle this - I have a mATX case which the provider advised can fit 2x 3.5" HDD but very tight. I am able to screw 1 HDD onto the tray/cover but I don't know how else to put the 2nd HDD behind it and secure it. Does anyone have an idea on the best way to fit these 2 onto the area above the PSU? Or do you think I can find a dual HDD cage and just put it there (and even if so still need to find where/how to secure it)? Any input is greatly appreciated. Photos in the links below.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What is the make and model of said matx case? I'm curious, are you using thumb screws since that's what was provided or is it because you lost them? Flush mounted 6-32 screws are what you need for the HDD's mount to sit flush with the side panel.

As for your second drive, due to the bracket's design, I don't think you can get another drive onto it, it's possible for one drive, either a 2.5" drive or a 3.5" drive. This is what I'm lead to believe based off of the images you've provided without mentioning the make and model of your case. You could get some long 6-32 screws but you'd also need nylon washers that go around the 6-32 screws. You could also use 6-32 stand-offs.

On second thoughts, please state the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:

Thank you for the welcome :)

It is a modified/customized one and it's called 'Nebula N5' (unfortunately no usual info ie. manual). I used these thumb screws from my previous build to attach the tray to the HDD as it did not come with extra's. I forgot to mention that both screws are only on one side (it was the only way I see the tray fitting to the HDD). Yeah it was on my list to get 6-32's but was just playing around with it and see what other people thought about this before moving forward. Currently using a dual bay docking station to access the 2x HDD's.

The 2x HDDs can fit in that space (as in if I put them both there on top of the PSU), I was thinking of getting a dual HDD bracket/cage and stick it there, then secure it to the chassis somehow? What do you guys think?

What does the manual of the case say about the mounting of HDDs?
No manual unfortunately as it's a custom made one but support has said "second HDD fitment is extremely tight behind the motherboard. If it can't fit then can only fit a 2.5" SSD. Behind where you've mounted the existing hard drive you can take the tray out to mount a hard drive behind the motherboard."
