graphics card: ASUS Radeon Hd 7850 2GB DDR5

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 (BIOS v0601)

power supply: Corsair HW650W

processor: AMD FX processor black edition (3.8GHz, 8.0 MB cache)

RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3 (2x 4GB)

Hello, I recently bought all the components needed to build my first gaming PC and after some trouble of building it finally got it to boot. I have put a fresh install of windows 7 64-bit and have encountered one critical problem. My graphics card fails to be used at all. No 3D rendering of any kind, I cant even go to the WoW login screen!

I have tried:

1. installing the drivers off the disk it came with

what happened: it would start up with a NVIDIA startup screen and then after a couple seconds load and look for a graphics card, where it would fail and then said it cant install any drivers, because to it there is nothing to install it to.

2. Uninstalling the existing drivers under "display adapters" in the device manager

what happened: I needed to reboot for this change to effect so i did, only for the drivers for the "Standard VGA Graphic Adapter" to immediately re-install on start-up without me doing anything. I then tried for the hell of it to install the graphic card drivers, it was a no go.

3. I have tried disabling any kind of on-board GPU.

what happened: there wasn't even a setting in the BIOS because there isn't any on-board.

4. Removing and re-inserting the graphics card.

what happened: nothing :(

I did read online however that the reason the installer may not be recognizing my card is because it doesnt recognize the vendor id of it. I noticed in the "SETUP.config" file in the installer folder that my model wasnt listed anywhere.. i dont know where to go from here and have spent all day trying to figure this out and am at a loss, any help is appreciated!

Ok so you have changed onboard to PCI-E? within the bios? Firstly when you installed your graphics card and connected all the power connections did you receive a display through your card. This is me asking this while you had your dvi, vga,or displayport connection going to your card.

first off your card is of amd and not nvidia...how come you install nvidia display drivers and expect it to recognise your card?
do a complete driver sweep of all the nvidia components, download the ones from amd and install it.
also update your Windows using automatic update.

I only tried installing these drivers because they came on a disk in the box... downloading the drivers from AMD now to see if they'll work. will report back!
