Trying to trouble shoot custom pc running problems

I’m having problems with a custom pc I bought online a couple years back, it had no OS installed so I had to manually install that myself I didn’t know to much about it but I got my computer running and basic things to run through it. It seems to crash a lot with apps running in the background. I don’t understand much about BIOS but I get a lot of errors with that when trying to open games so I sort of gave up on it for a couple years.
I don’t know what it’s running but it’s
AsRock Fatal1ty FM2A88X+ killer
AMD A10-7870K Radeon R7
8GB DDR3
ASRock RAM
The ASRock ram is never really running anything through it when I’m on it either if that means anything

I would start with new windows (probably W7) installation and newest driver.
