Does anyone know how the low classes will work in these? I am betting that they will be as slow as the slowest card.

It does not really seem worth it unless you have access to free 32GB class 10 microSD cards.

Even then it isn't worth it. You can buy brand new 128gb SSD drives now for $79 on sale. Even the slowest SSD will be days faster than this.

It was of course Photofast that first came out with
their 9000 SSD, which accepts SIX SD cards. In
theory enabling one to put six 128 GB cards in and
have a hefty SSD. I have one of these and though
I had high hopes it would work, it did not, at least using
the SDHC cards I put in. Still working on it....the Photofast
SSD/SD is no longer available new...

I don't see why this is news. These are readily available for a much cheaper price. As I recall Tom's has already done articles on these in the past.

Considering 128Gb SSD is really only about twice the price of this controller, and the slow speed such controller is going to operate at, this is not a viable device at all.

Hack-Tech like this rarely works well, especially performance wise.
Costs too much, works too slow. Even a $70 500GB HD would be faster and more reliable than this junk.

All-in-one internal card readers that plug into USB cost literally a couple of dollars. MicroSD cards aren't all that bandwidth-hungry so unless these guys bring the price down into same range (no more than $10) I predict a glorious fail for them.

why would you buy this the kit. this kit cost 79 dollars then you have to buy 4 32gb ssd's to get to 128gb. By the time you start adding up the cost you'd be looking at 160 dollars for something that's much slower then any typical 128gb SSD that you could buy for 100 bucks and 25 dollars more could buy you a 250gb Samsung EVO SSD for 185 dollars that would be superior to any SD in every way.

$80 just for the converter. Then if you're using old micro-SD cards, you probably don't have a bunch of high-capacity cards sitting around. If you ARE using older cards you have sitting around, they're probably not incredibly fast either.

Might as well just buy a USB 3.0 mem stick and get better performance for the same price, and not have a bulky card converter sitting around.

If I remember correctly Sharkoon has produced something like that 2 or 3 years ago but with SD cards, not microSD. You could use I think a maximum of 8 cards?
The problem with SD cards is that they are extremely slow on 4K. Take an SD card and you are probably going to see 0.03 MB/sec at 4K writes. Thats the typical speed of o 1.44MB floppy disk if I am not mistaken. So you are going to have an SSD that at 4K writes will be as fast as a floppy, and if you use many cards maybe as fast as a CDROM drive 1-2X speed, but with at least lower access times.
There are off course some SD cards that write with a few hundred kilobytes at 4K or a couple MBs per second. But don't expect an SSD. Especially at this price the card is useless.

I hear all the comments about this being slow and expensive, which are correct, but I wish they had done this about 5 years ago.... and technically if the raid card worked correctly in raid 0, the speed would actually improve. I have been wanting something like this for my cell phone to add 256gb to the cell phone (in 64gb micro xd cards).

I guess no one here can read. The article clearly says that this adapter is geared toward people who ALREADY HAVE Micro SD cards laying around.

It'd work well for encryption! Record your data, separate the cards and your data is safely disassembled and encrypted until you reassemble in the right order. Very Mission Impossible!

This isn't a bad launch price considering SSD's and MicroSD's launched way way higher, if it catches momentum prices will fall and hopefully larger capacities will emerge.

". Also, according to the site, the gadget can bring Windows Experience Index Score up to 3.6 for storage. "
Ok, but my old 320GB 7200RPM laptop drive gives a score of 5.9 and my old Intel X25-m G2 gives a score of 7.#. ??
