Just wondering if u guys could help me out with something i was wondering about.

I have a thunderbird 1.33Ghz 266bus, and im thinking about swapping it for a AXP 2600+ 266bus. would it be twice as fast as my old cpu? or would it be way faster cuz of new instructions and crap in the prosseser?

Thankz

Poor mans surround sound all the way!

I'd say a good 30-40% better in some areas and other areas you may not even notice the change. There are to many other bottlenecks that will prevent the performance from being doubled. Just because the clockspeed is doubled (even though it still isnt, i think a 700 mhz gap) doesnt mean performance is doubled. The other components dont nearly evolve the same rate as the cpu for the exeption of maybe the graphics card.
