hi im hoping if neone could help me on this. I recently bought a TWINMOS 2700 DDR RAM (333 MHZ). I have a Intel D865PERL motherboard. The problem is that the ram is neither working alone in any slot or working with my other PC2100 DDR 256 MB RAM by Spectek. There is no display coming when putting the ram. On the twinmos site they say its compatible with my motherboard. Whats wrong? is it compatible or incompatible? and it cant be a bad ram cause it was new and packed. I have a 2.40 C P4 Processor with 800 bus. Could that me causing the problem?

Did this system ever run at all?

Well, I'm not going to automatically assume it's a memory problem. Describe your system to the last detail and tell us exactly what happens when you turn it on.

ok
intel 2.40C GHZ processor with 800 mhz bus
intel d865perl motherboard with intel 865PE chipset
spectek pc 2100 ddr ram 266mhz
nvidia geforce 4mx 440 64mb
40gb wd hard disk

well when i put the Twinmos 333mhz ram along with my spectek ram the cpu fan is running and everything else is working but a amber light is coming in the monitor. I tried removing the spectek ram to leave this twinmos ram alone and the same thing happens. Im sure ive inserted it correctly.

Can a PC 2700 DDR Ram work along with a PC 2100 ram in my system.. and if so is twinmos incompatible with intel motherboards?

I'm not yet sure what your system problem is, but I wouldn't suspect the RAM first, I'd consider other possibilities because it's a new build. Is your square "ATX12v" 4-pin connector attached to the motherboard from the power supply? Does your power supply even have the ATX12v connector? Have you tried powering it up with the drives disconected? How about laying it on a cardboard box or phone book and powering it up outside the case?

yes it does. the power supply is fine. The system works well with the 2100 ddr ram. I do not understand what you mean by putting it on a card board? how would that make a difference

When you said the system never ran, I mistakenly assumed it never ran, even with PC2100.

Why are you crippling an 400mhz 865PE chipset with 266mhz and 333mhz ram? Put some decent PC3200 in there and then see what happens! I hope you're not trying to dual-channel it.

does a 400mhz ram make any major performance improvement? and i heard about this dual channel thing what is it exactly

Running the RAM syncronously with the FSB does increase the performance quite a lot, and will put less strain on your memory controller.
Dual channel mode uses two memory DIMMs and splits the data between them, think of it as adding 2x400Mhz modules together to make 1x800Mhz module. Effectivly your motherboard treats the two 64bit wide memory interfaces as a single 128bit one.

well thats cool but what do i do with this memory, i tried it again in all of the 4 slots it isnt working no display coming.. shd i change it?

In order to run dual channel mode RAM you need two equally sized DIMM's running at the same memory speeds. Put them in either slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4.
