Where exactly does it save? What if I'm in the middle of a jump and it craps out, will it reload in the middle of the jump and I end up falling and dying? What if I'm in the middle of a fight, will it reload into the moment I get viciously slaughtered? I hate it when games only have autosaving and now we tack on a system that could lead to it worsening. I stopped playing the first game because of how bad the save system was in that game and it looks like I won't be playing this one either.

Ubisoft press release: "In our arrogance, we thought our DRM was unbreakable. After a very short time, the pirating community effed our arrogance in the A. Now to save face we are releasing a patch that removes one pound of DRM bullsh-t from a multi-ton bullsh-t package. Paying $60 to play our game is a privilege. You, as legit purchasers of our game, should be extremely thankful for what we, in our benevolence, have granted you in this patch."

I do not like DRM, however, I was semi-pleased when I installed Bad Company 2, that it gave me a choice of verifying with a disc, or a one time online verification(with a 10 install limit) I chose the online activation, knowing if I decide to change my mind, i can deauth my computer and reinstall and switch to disc based instead.

It makes you wonder if they care more about selling units or stopping pirates. If you could sell double the units without DRM than you would with DRM, what do you care if a hundred bazzillion copies are pirated?

Can't get my legit copy of Rainbow 6 Vegas (2006) to play even though I have a digital copy and receipt from direct2drive...

Haven't bought Ubisoft since. Never will again until my game works.

Dear Ubisoft,

People pirate your games because they're not worth $60, not because they are too easy to hack. Far Cry 2 was very underwhelming (and full of false advertising, 50km^2 my arse! It was really only 18km^2, and it was very repetitive and redundant at that) The Rainbow Six series has taken a turn for the worse, same with Ghost recon.... gosh, can you guys get anything perfect? Your games can be enjoyable, but they ALL have something that is just annoying. You should hang out more with Valve!

Games like L4D and L4D2 are well worth $50 imo (unless you already had L4D, then L4D2 was a rip-off for you). I've put around 150 hours into L4D already, and I got it for christmas.

I don't mind DRM when it is non-intrusive, but I am not messing around with this crap. Way to many potential ways for this to go sideways and disconnect...

Stop using DRM and game quality as an excuse to pirate games. Crappy or full of DRM or not, it's a pathetic excuse. When companies put out great games they get pirated too.... Imagine that.

Having to be connected to their servers is silly, but, wait until everything is on a cloud server....That's what it is going to come to. You can thank the pirates and cheap skates for it & the $60 game prices.

I wonder what hurts sales more... Piracy? or DRM? I would NEVER buy a single player game that required a constant internet connection.

One problem with this kind of DRM is that it focuses who can buy the game to locations with a stronger internet. For those who travel or live in countries with no, or limited internet this obviously does not work. For non MMORPG games, this seems unnecessary. It would be great if means of activation could be created to allow for play in places without the web. Not only would this please people like me who travel, but it would open large new emerging markets on continents like Africa and South America.

Some games just seem like they're MEANT to encourage piracy, or at least encourage the usage cracks lol. what a stupid call ubisoft. i see this DRM system lasting a couple months tops before they realize it just pisses ppl off more than anything and stop shipping games with it. or, rather, that's what i hope.

so far assassins creed 2 have dx9 and DRM protection sOOOOOOOO i think that fail er not good start for ac2 ...sooo i don't need it

I checked with the people who say they hacked it, and they sent me a video-capture of their screen running Silent Hunter 5. They disabled the drivers for their network cards and fired it up: ran just fine.

So once again, I'll say it to the DRM-scheme people: copy-protection schemes do not work. It just hacks off your customers, and the pirates go on without being inconvenienced (and I hate to tell you, but many of them enjoy cracking security conventions). Worse, if you hack off customers enough, they may too eventually just pirate the game. Why deal with all the hassle DRM puts you through when a free, easy-to-do download is available? I hear more and more of that every day, but it seems to fly right by execs.

The game as already been released in Europe and ...
the servers at Ubisoft have already been overloaded during last weekend preventing people from connecting to them and from playing the game.

This patch does not seems to prevent this kind of situation.
Who cares that you can save everywhere in the game if you can not even start it?

EPIC fail for a singleplayer game.

I will say at least they took the time to add Eyefinity support.
But really, to lighten an oppressive DRM weeks after release, is like offering someone a beer after you lit them on fire.
