The price for an Ubuntu Edge phone is currently $775.

An Apple iPhone 5 with 64 GB costs $850. Max price for Ubuntu Edge with 128 GB is $830. Apart from that Ubuntu Edge will have the best multi-core processor available when produced, satire glass, and at least 4 GB RAM.

everyone keeps going on about the price, i think for what they are offering its a beast. not to mention, the iphone5 64gig for $850 is still just a fucking iphone and inherently rubbish. would happily put my money on the edge instead

I don't care about the functionality of my phone, personally. That's why I have my PC. I would never spend $800 on a stupid phone.

I think it's a great idea, being able to dock a phone and use it as a computer is a good idea. That's why it had crazy specs. And the ability to dual boot android and linux is awesome. However, with that price point it's kinda pointless. Once they can get it down to $300 I think it will start to get some real traction.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. It does a lot of things that a normal consumer would enjoy, and at the same time nothing more than a good phone and/or tablet would be enough for such a person. It almost eliminates the need for a computer; and in case you didn't know, that's why PC sales are shrinking.

John Bauer, you called the phone stupid, thats like me calling computers stupid. The subjective nature of liking the phone means neither of us are incorrect in our views. I simply sought to point out that it fits a market, just like tablets, just like PCs and just like old flip phones fit their respective markets. Yes its expensive, but so is a $5k rediculous alienware/origin/other custom market PC, that being the case, it doesnt diminish its point of existing. This phone is the "custom PC market" of phones, if it ever ends up coming to the market that is.
