Hello, I have recently bought my daughter her first laptop as a gift and have been racking my brains as to why Windows 7 won't install. We get an error message of which I attach a screenshot (well a photo of the screen).
I am well versed with PC's, after all I am able to get the USB Flash drive recognized and started. It isn't until just after "Starting Windows" does the screen go blue with said verbage.

Now to put things into context my daughter wanted a computer like mine, which is Asus X75VC, of which I have no issues running Windows 7.
Her new Asus X540s struggles with Win10, regardless, we don't want Win 10, but will keep it as the main C partition for now. Am also waiting on Linux Mint 18, but today I need Windows 7 so please help!

Have spent the past few days scouring these forums, but have yet to find a solution to this "modern" problem. Computers these days seem to be going backwards, with less customizeability freely available at our disposal.

[P.s. How do I attach a screenshot with the error message? ]

Solution

But you said your have Win7 already installed and network access via wifi ? So why don't you...

I got these as unknown devices except the first one

This Hardware ID "ACPI\808622C1" refers to the "Intel(R) Serial IO I2C ES Controller". If you have this installed - where did you find the right driver?

I used Driver Boost to find most of the drivers

Awesome!

Try Brightness in the System Settings (Power Management, Control Panel)

Also, consider Bluetooth Headphones.

Hello... trying to give my own experience! I have this same model and, as you, I went for the linuxmint MATE edition on it... struggling with many errors, I found out that the issue is UEFI partitions, this is the main problem we are facing today (someone somewhere doesn't want us, the consumers, to start messing around with our own stuff, the things we buy with our own money - anyway, moving along :-( )

What I did after struggling with these partitions was:
1) to get myself my old copy of Hiren's Boot CD;
2) run gparted from it and totally erase the partitions on disk;
3) create my own partitions, the way I wanted;
4) put the pendrive with linuxmint on it's place
5) start/boot from pendrive
6) install linuxmint

So, in conclusion, if you still want dual boot win10 with another system, I'm afraid I can't help you; if, like me, you're tired of struggling with those partitions and want to get rid of that error screen and start using your laptop right the way, I believe this is the way to go.

And these are my 2 cents, hope it can help, someway
Cheers and good luck

But how did you updated bios? I instal windows 7 easy, but usb ports, wifi, touchpad still won't work... In bios, everything is unlocked...fu**ing windows 10..

Go to BIOS and LOCK the card reader. When ASUS blasts out their load, they use the card reader in the WIN10 install process. If you try and install Win7, it looks at the firmware in the card reader and BSOD.

Hi guys

I have had the exact same issue with my x540s opting for win8 (instead of Win10) allowed me to get past the BSOD screen and to the command line where i could format and partition the disk.

Windows 8 pro is now installed and running..also had numerous driver issues which i have cleared with Driver Booster 4.1 and another driver program..the issue now is that my touchpad does not work. It does not show in device manager and is enabled in the BIOS. I have tried all ASUS smart gesture software from the website and none of them install. Also tried synaptics versions and same problem.. Please help!!I can however use a USB mouse

May be you don't know about it; this is he exact problem, the official website has'nt the drivers for Windows 7. I've solved all the drivers issues of this machine, excerpt for the mousepad, ...yet. Would you like to check the content of the link, please? I've no intention of harm nobody, i'm not that kind of sick :)

Thank you so mutch after trying everything i also changed the card reader from unlmock to lock and it is working 😉 thank you so mutch .

ACPI\MSFT0101 is TPM 2.0. you can take this update to solve

Can you tell me how to get the touchpad's driver on win 7

I found this in another forum. Try and tell us. "...Greetings forum!

I agree with weber and hang. These laptops are equipped for hardware along with drivers that support Windows 8 and up. It may be best to pick up a nice external mouse as they are the superior human interface device.
ALTHOUGH! You can give this a try. Download the ASUS smart gesture application from the support page and afterwards update your ATK driver. I hope this helps and good luck!

THANK YOU! I think I love you bro!
I was having a very hard time after REinstall Win10 (cuz' the drivers), but I read this thread and YOU fixed my problem!
I disabled the CardReader in the bios, and VOILA! No more "suddenshutdownwithnoadvice"... :3
May The Nine be with you in all times...

Sooooo, any of you reached the complete solution for Windows 7 for this laptop? Of course, includin mousePad. Thanks!!

This solution worked for me.
