Hello, I have recently bought my daughter her first laptop as a gift and have been racking my brains as to why Windows 7 won't install. We get an error message of which I attach a screenshot (well a photo of the screen).
I am well versed with PC's, after all I am able to get the USB Flash drive recognized and started. It isn't until just after "Starting Windows" does the screen go blue with said verbage.

Now to put things into context my daughter wanted a computer like mine, which is Asus X75VC, of which I have no issues running Windows 7.
Her new Asus X540s struggles with Win10, regardless, we don't want Win 10, but will keep it as the main C partition for now. Am also waiting on Linux Mint 18, but today I need Windows 7 so please help!

Have spent the past few days scouring these forums, but have yet to find a solution to this "modern" problem. Computers these days seem to be going backwards, with less customizeability freely available at our disposal.

[P.s. How do I attach a screenshot with the error message? ]

But you said your have Win7 already installed and network access via wifi ? So why don't you...
^at first I thought I was going insane reading this "poetically attempted English" and then realized it is probably automatically translated Russian. It links here:

Like I said, almost identical situation, so it's not just something we ourselves are doing in error. It seems to be a problem with these new PC's.
I'm telling ya, we are being forced into Windows 10 and all privacy we have been accustomed to prior for the past 20 odd years with computing as we know it is being taken away before our very eyes!!

Something somewhat amazing has happened, Windows 7 is installed!! However, now there is no USB or touchpad functionality. Drivers? I managed to get the WIFI working, but no mouse or touchpad.
Anyway, here is how I managed to install Windows 7 after all…
There was a setting in BIOS called I/O Security and in there was Card Reader Interface. I switched from Unlock to Lock and to my amazement, no BSOD!!

The firmware that comes w/ the laptop prevents win 7 from installing.
Many newer computers are built this way.

That's why we like to build systems from scratch.

Dear SoundGuruMan, this is my biggest fear.
This is my child's first computer, she uses Windows 7 at school. Some hardware we have, such as iomega external hd [the built in software] is only detectable in Windows 7. These are among the very few reasons we need 7! It is a budget laptop, very pretty in shiny red. It follows her daddy (me) 's Asus X series which she specifically chose.
I have managed to install 7, even got wifi up and running. However we have no USB access.
There must be a way to get the USB port recognized. It is automatically in Wins 8.1 and Linux Mint, why not 7.

As of last night I am attempting this 'FIX':
http://codeabitwiser.com/2014/03/how-to-install-windows-7-with-only-usb-3-0-ports/

Even Intel themselves, in the ReadMe file for this newly found, potential hidden gem, known as 'Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator utility' states:
"Windows 7 installation media does not include native driver support for USB 3.0,
so during installation, when you get to the screen to select your preferred language, a keyboard or mouse connected to a USB 3.0 port does not respond.
The Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility helps to update a Windows 7 installation image to include USB 3.0 drivers.'

In this world of computers, surely there must be a simple hack for such a seemingly simple task to make USB ports recognized in Windows 7???

PLEASE HELP!!

But you said your have Win7 already installed and network access via wifi ? So why don't you simple download the Intel chipset drivers for Win7 and install it ? It will add the USB 3.0 driver.

Solution
Have tried that, no dice. Like the previous comment said the Firmware for this NEW Computer is preventing it. I have tried Intel Chipset, many ASUS Drivers for other Operating Systems and other Laptop Models (e.g. ASMedia USB 3.0 Extended Host Controller Driver).
EVEN Microsoft Fixit for Windows XP which seemed to install and run fine, waiting for a while only to return the usual "Unable to detect hardware, try visiting manufacturer website for support". ASUS has all the drivers for this computer, only they are ALL Windows 10 64bit drivers.

And just like that from out of nowhere this works!! WOW, we have mouse movement, the car has a steering wheel!!

Noidea's solution worked. In the sense that it was a matter of (by chance, through much perseverance) coming across the Intel Chipset Driver. The one that worked, all others previously tried failed at install. This one was accepted and automatically and immediately the USB thumbdrive was recognized.

Did you ever get the touchpad working ??
Have exactly the same make/model and I'm stuck on this for win7 🙁

I collected the drivers from windows 10 but i suppose that it works whit w7.

I have the same problem: i can't install w7 in this pc model.
Please.. tellme how you did it.
Thanks.

Oh my god it took me for ever but I found out how to do, my model are the x540s (x540sa)

first ive updated the bios
then i went in the bios and chaged a few things
1- disable boot security
2-enable the csm support
3- in i/o security disable the sd card (makes blue screen for unknown reason)
4- Ive used a disk utility (gparted in hiren boot disk) to delete the partitions and the GPT to create a msdos ntfs partition
Finally i was able to use the win7 dvd and install it
Ive burnt a cd with the usb3 driver and used the realtek wired network driver from my z170 mobo
after that there's ninite.com for common applications. and driver pack solution helped me a bit, but my mouse pad are still not working
Besides the mouse I cannot also dimm the light of the lcd despite the vga driver are installed and rebooted

So I hope thoses steps would help you a bit further

How did you manage to get the wifi?

From this page? oh man, I have installed all of them and none makes the wifi works

by the way, did you manage to get everything working fine on Windows 7?

Try both WLAN_QualcommAtheros_Win10_64 and WLAN_Realtek_Win10_60…

One of those worked for us

Thanks man! 😀 I don't know why those worked and not the drivers that came with the pc

However, I can't adjust the brightness nor connect my headphones 🙁

I bought my ASUS X540SA-XX122T in Switzerland. It has exactly the same problems installing Windows 7 on it. Thank you very much, guys, for sharing your experiences! I searched for and tried a lot of drivers - some made the machine showing blue screen... forcing me to bring back my machine to a former, more stable state. Now there are still 3 devices displayed in Windows Device Manager as Unknown device. These are their Hardware-IDs:

ACPI\808622C1
ACPI\INTL9C60
ACPI\MSFT0101

Did you find the drivers for all of your devices? Or are there still some Unknown devices left in your Device Manager?
