unable to install windows update of Defender in vista?

Unable to install Windows updates for Defender in Vista SP1 OS after downloading from MS Updater installer. Ran MS Win Update Fixit. It found corrupted Win Update service and register. Fixit. After reboot I try to download and install a Win Update of Defender but it just freezes computer and mouse and keyboard. So I repeat the fixit and same it freezes mouse and keybd. Also if computer is idle for 10 min, mose /keypad freeze. Only way to fix it to power down with pwr button then pwr button to restart. Malwarebytes ran and removed astromedia now is clean but freezing still there. Antivirus Kaspersky is running in backgrd always and found no viruses. Any ideas as to how to resolve this and where to find a current Win update driver for Vista SP1?

try to uninstall the latest update definition file or try to update your sp1 to sp2. if you are using kaspersky why you bother with win defender??? (defender is automatically turned off by 3rd party anti-virus guards).
