I have a 9 year old Compaq Presario C300 that I cannot link to my home network, wirelessly or with the ethernet cable plugged in ever since replacing the router with a Belkin C300. High speed provider is Time Warner with an Arris CM820A modem. The Network connection screen says Connected, but when I try to access the internet, it says I am not connected. I have 2 other devices at home, a Nook Color, which I am on now, and an Android phone, whixh I used to set up the new router. I need the laptop to connect, its the only thing I can use to scan and print from...been working on it for months...I lose patience. Thaks guys

It did work for about a month after I got it. A tech from Time Warner came out and did something that involved renaming my router (just by adding the letter "a" to it), and I think he said he deleted a connection and created a new one...everything was working, I could take the laptop from room to room without losing the connection, and at that time I had Vonage home phone service connected as well. Someone (my daughter) unplugged the wires from everything to untangle them and I haven't been able to link the laptop again, just the Nook and phone....I can't figure out why or how it worked before and not now.

That will fix the problem? How do I do that? I need guidance and "English", not "Tech"..please. I am by far not a wiz...Thanks, you are way more helpful than the other sites I asked.
