Question "Unexpected Shutdown" multiple days in a row according to Bugcheck ?

Laptop model: Lenovo Yoga 7i (Type 82BH)

12GB RAM
11th gen Intel i5-1135G7
Windows 11 pro

the device has been plugged into usb-c power attached to a monitor screen
the cord sometimes is a bit finnicky
the cord charges the device and also outputs to the screen

i've recently reinstalled Windows and even had the device in warranty repair, which they only reinstalled OS but seemed to fix a network issue

other odd thing is my Alt and Windows keys got swapped software-wise
on external keyboard

yesterday computer shut down two separate times, today happened again
got Reliability History copied inline message, and copied Event viewer for today between those 2 minutes to a Pastebin in plaintext

Quick shot to fix things:

Run the built in Windows troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

Corrupted files: run "dism" and "sfc /scannow".

did troubleshooter for
windows update
Windows update issues detected
i didn;t copy the full details. didn't see exactly what it found.

tried a few other troubleshooters for misc stuff

DISM ran fine, no problem detected on checkhealth
scanhealth says The component store is repairable.
restore lagged a long time on some percent but i clicked it and it went to 100% immediately
The restore operation completed successfully.

sfc
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.

hopefully this is solved for now

Continue watching Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer. Objective to find more specific information and error codes.

Reliability History may show some pattern of envents that led to the problem re-occurring. Look at the timeline as far back as you can.

Also look in Update History for any failed or problem updates that preceded the crashes re-appearence.

No problem with posting the mini-dump. There are some members herein who are well versed in reading the provided information and identifying potential culprits.

Well things became worse after the May 10 failed Windows update. However, the update failure may have been caused by something else that failed.

Take a close look at all of those critical Application failure prior to May 10. What apps and error codes are listed - check the technical details

Then do the same for all of the critical failures starting May 10 and onward.

Afterthat, the next step is to disable all unnecessary app etc.. If the shutdowns stop, then begin adding back apps one at a time allowing time between additions. If/when the shutdows begin again then that app is suspect.

Sorry, I'm a bit late to this one. All these dumps are 0x9F bugchecks, indicating that a device failed to complete a power transition in time. The dump parameters give us both the address of the IRP managing the power transition request and the address of the device object for the failing device.

The IRP managing the power transition shows that the driver that's failing is Netwtw10.sys, the Intel WiFi driver...

That recent dump is exactly the same as the others. It's a 0x9F and the device failing the power transition is the Intel AX201 wireless adapter. Since updating the driver hasn't helped one must now suspect the card. Intel laptop wireless cards do fail, I had one fail in a laptop of mine some years ago and I've seen several others fail since then.

Go into Device Manager, right-click on your AX201 and select Properties. In there click the Power Management tab and ensure that the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device' is NOT checked.

I also note that the version of netwtw10.sys that you're running is dated 22nd Feb 2024, but the latest driver available from the Lenovo website for your model is dated 17th Aug 2021. Where did the new version come from? If it was Windows Update then that should be fine. The thing with laptops is that drivers are often customised for the laptop to aid with interoperability and power-saving reasons. A generic AX201 driver from Intel will not contain those customisations and may cause problems. One thing you might try then, is to download the driver from the Lenovo website, then uninstall the current AX201 driver (uninstall the device in Device Manager and check the box to also uninstall the driver), and then install the Lenovo driver.

We know that the Lenovo driver will be fully compatible with your laptop, so if that BSODs with a 0x9F bugcheck code then it's almost certainly the AX201 card.

A new AX201 can be found online for around $20 and they're not that difficult to change.

Last time with GPU problems, someone recommended install from Intel
and i got one or two of those software and drivers

if i recall correctly, i might have used the "newer" intel drivers for network and whatnot
it seems Windows update is working properly after reverting to Lenovo 2022 win11 driver
but i'll see if this fixes it

A generic AX201 driver from Intel will not contain those customisations and may cause problems. One thing you might try then, is to download the driver from the Lenovo website, then uninstall the current AX201 driver (uninstall the device in Device Manager and check the box to also uninstall the driver), and then install the Lenovo driver.

We know that the Lenovo driver will be fully compatible with your laptop, so if that BSODs with a 0x9F bugcheck code then it's almost certainly the AX201 card.

A new AX201 can be found online for around $20 and they're not that difficult to change.

it may have gotten some humidity or even condensation recently but generally has been working great
ii found an ax201 for like $11 or something

but i did get another couple reboots again
i'll probably upgrade to a new laptop eventually
it seems maybe it's very similar bugcheck still so i'm trying to view minidump
not sure if that means it's same exact issue or not

That's a strange comment, we don't often see statements like this. What happened to make you think there might be moisture inside? That would be very bad.

These dumps are all the same, all are 0x9F DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE bugchecks and all are for the Netwtw10.sys driver again - which I can see has been updated since last time. One thing I do note is that you appear to be using Mullvad Wireguard? There are Wireguard drivers loaded and they too are quite old, dating from 2021...

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that this is what's causing the delayed power transitions. It might be worth uninstalling it and see whether the 0x9F BSODs stop.
