Yeah got the core up to 1,325 and mem up to 7800 with the Classified Tool. Not gonna push any further though! Plus it means flashing the bios and I quite like the standard bios.

Managed to pick up a 680 for a bargain £150. Havent attached the kraken to it yet, but this is what I have gotten out of it so far, pretty happy with that!

Dont seem to be able to get more than +40mhz on the gpu clock so far though.

87.5 I believe it said.

Im wondering if my high vram speed is inhibiting my gpu core oc. I think i need to have a look into the bios of this card and see.

I would modify the bios. With ASIC that high there's no reason not to. What 680 is it? The bios appears to be for reference and looks to be the original.

It should be boosting high.

Yeah the old 660 oem I was using (also gk104) had an Asic of about 97, that thing would happly run at over 1350mhz with 7.2ghz on the vram!

Its a Gainward, Looks like reference, but has a 8pin + 6pin.
edit: Yeah, looks like they did two versions, one with 6+6 pin and one with 8+6 which is the one I have, looks like this one has a 6+2 phase pwm, which is nice:

Its boosting to around 1150 (what Afterburner and GPU-z report) with 40+ on the core clock.

Yeah Ill pull off the air cooler and attach my Kraken G10 and H55 + VRM and vram heatsinks. Once ive done that ill have a look at the bios on it.

Ran KGB on the bios and boosted the vram up some more and it will now hit up to 1241Mhz, vram 7200mhz, this is pretty much it on the air cooler I think, hopefully ill have time tomorrow to attach the Kraken G10 and H55 to it and see if that allows it any more, but im not hopeful - it feels like this is as much as it will give, but the Samsung vram is really good. Regardless, it will cool it much better and be a lot quieter. Its not a bad air cooler, but now overclocked it has to blow fairly fast to keep it cool, even in my Air 540 which has brilliant airflow.

Anyway, pretty happy to scrape in the 50fps/2100 mark considering it did about 1800score on the factory settings! 😀

Hello guys,
is this result all right? It seems to me that my new system is kinda underperforming in games (Dayz 20-40 ultra, Watch Dogs 30-45 ultra, FC3 42-60 Ultra on 720p..), want to make sure that at least this is okay. (new monitor is on the way)

(r9 280x MSI Gaming edition)

Thanks a bunch!

It under performs because its a AMD system ... not taking a stab due to brand but AMD drivers really do suck and AMD really cant keep performance and optimization in the one driver they pretty much cant support their products with their drivers sorry to say it maybe cheaper but with that price comes bad drivers

The 280X is overkill for 1280x1024. At this resolution your putting the strain on the CPU. To find where the 280X stands you either need to run 1080p or run a different benchmark ie: 3Dmark which by default runs at 1280x720p. The program can be downloaded and installed via Steam...

with my 2500k@4.5ghz running the valley extreme hd preset(1080p), the highest I got with my old msi twin frozr 7950(msi gaming r9-280 non x) running 1175mhz core 1575mhz memory was 1964 score. the 7970s(280x) would get well over 2000 and most with an average overclock would be about 2200 or a little above, some as high 2400.

you have your test running at some odd 1280x1024 which is going to expose a cpu bottleneck on any system. when you get your new monitor, re run the test at the extreme hd setting to and lets see where your at. it does seem to me that you might be underperforming, since your getting a 2533 score at such a low resolution seems very close to the 2400 scores I have seen from some highly overclocked 7970s running at a much higher 1080p resolution. but its hard to tell or compare to others until you run it at 1080p.

Here's my new set-up (PC in sig).

Score: 5271

EVGA Titan Black SuperClocked SLI - Core: 1202, Memory 7600 @1.062v.

This is my 24/7 OC on the cards with temps never exceeding 75C.

Can get the core up to 1280 and memory to 7850 but don't like the temps!!!

run display driver uninstaller and reinstall the latest nvidia drivers and see if it makes a difference. let ddu run the full clean safe mode.

http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/

also knowing what clocks your 770 is running at would be helpful. valley shouldn't care too much about your cpu speed.

i meaning use the ddu uninstaller to rule out driver conflicts. nvidias uninstaller leaves more than plenty behind, amd/nvidia just seem to never be able to fully clean out their own stuff, go figure. if you have been installing new driver after new driver etc... its guaranteed there are leftovers that could be affecting performance.
