Looks like the CPU plays a bigger part than I thought it would in this becnchmark.

I'm curious how accurate this benchmark is for overall modern performance.

Heaven has some pretty computationally hefty tech behind it, like Tessellation and SSDO.

While Valley is quite impressive, it seems reminds me a lot of just a large quantity of DX9 effects. Perhaps DX10 with instancing. But either way, it seems more like a memory bandwidth test than an overall GPU test.

So while Heaven is a 10-problem Diff. EQ test, Valley seems like a 1000-problem arithmetic test.


What kinds of tech is it using under the hood?

What valley does to differ from heaven is that valley has the manual walk as a camera mode(map is 64k in game km long) to simulate walking in different areas in a game and such. the one thing it left out is that valley does NOT simulate tessellation, which is present in many games.

Pfffft. I have had a Riva 128, a Riva TNT, a Riva TNT2, a Geforce, a Geforce 2, a Geforce 4200Ti, a 6600GT, a 8800GTS, and a GTX260. Can you say the same, so called "Green Team"? The HD7950 is the first ATI board I ever owned, and frankly I've never been happier with my purchase.

Dragon's have pretty thick skin, you know! But as you can see from my long line of GPUs, this is my first nVidia defection. I thought after all those nVidia boards I'd try something from the competition for my latest GPU upgrade. It's working out well (so far).

btw, i truly meant nothing other than a little light hearted bantering, my apologizes if i came off differently. as most all know; a synthetic benchmark does not equate to real world gaming experience.

Here's my score.

Running a fx-8350 at 4.8ghz, 32gig of ram, and dual HIS IceQ X2 7970s (1125core/1575mem) in crossfire but for some reason only one shows on the bench.

Score= Avg FPS 79.9 and 3342 overall score
