I think you have a bad card. Should not need to downclock from factory.

I thought the same thing; however, I am able to run each card independently for hours with no issues. It is only when I combine the two in SLI where my problems rear their ugly head.

try a new CF/SLI connector yet?

I have three and unfortunately they all have the same results. Beating my head against the wall....I might just dump SLI and get a GTX 770 or 780. But I'm not giving up until I get this solved. Thank you for the advice!

Open a thread and post link. I'll help... I would say run everything at default -EVERYTHING. If there's still issues then I'd look into pcie settings in bios, wrong pcie slot or simply defective (the slot that is).

2x 7970 @ 1230/1875, i7-2600k @ 4.8, Extreme HD : 102.0 fps, 4268 score. When I take screenshots, it pastes into paint as a black image.

My rig: i5 2500k watercooled clocked to 4.9Ghz , Asus Maximus V Formula watercooled, 16gb Corsair Vengeance at 1600Mhz, and the Gigabyte GTX 780 Windforce OC clocked to +90Mhz on the core and +550Mhz memory. Can't get past +90 core

Highest 7970 score I ever saw was around 60.0FPS. I don't think he's using Extreme HD Preset

its hard to say because no one benches low res much(especially with AA off), its pretty much standard to run unigine at extreme 1080p quality, even if your gpu is not designed for it.

I have bench marked after OCing the GPU to different Clocks.

Will post them soon. If it is not upto the mark, I can get a replacement as I'm still under 30 day replacement policy.

Usually GPU problems don't manifest themselves as low performance but rather crashes and artifacts.
